General Hospital's Cody comes to James's rescue

When General Hospital's James fell into the murky waters outside the Quartermaine boathouse, Cody rescued him. While the moments looked authentic and terrifying because a child could have drowned, behind the scenes, the actors looked like they were having fun.

In the story, James ran away from his family in the park because he wanted to find Cody. Because Cody had lied and failed to tell Mac that Mac was his father, Mac was resentful—so resentful that he declared that his grandson James could no longer take horseback riding lessons from Cody.

After James made it to the Quartermaine boathouse, he found a Frisbee, and he accidentally tossed it into the water. James tried retrieving the Frisbee but fell into the lake. Thankfully, Cody found him in time and dove in for a rescue.

How GH's rescue scenes came together

GH shared some behind-the-scenes footage showing what went into taping those scenes, including a look at how small the indoor pool that doubled for an outdoor lake really was. Josh Kelly, who plays Cody, looked like a good sport as he had fun with young Gary James Fuller, who plays James.

In a video montage of what we didn't see on-screen, Kelly and Fuller had fun being sprayed by the GH crew so they'd look soaked through. Kelly dove onto soft gymnastics mats while Fuller waved at the camera with a smile before holding his nose, as children do, before taking his plunge. Fuller also remained safe in the pool, with adults around him as he leaned on a floatation device. Bonnie Tyler's 1984 hit "Holding Out for a Hero" played in the background.

Fuller also shared some photos and footage on his Instagram account, declaring that he does his own stunts as he dove onto soft and safe mats as Kelly did. Fuller also offered a little walrus pose as he explained how cold and wet he was.

Thankfully, Cody and James came through their little adventure just fine, while the actors and crew appeared to have an exciting day bringing these pivotal scenes to life.
