Santa Claus will have a post-Christmas present for General Hospital fans. On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, the show will be going back Down Under when it premieres on Australia’s 10 Play, the streaming arm of its channel, Network 10.
The series joins other US soap operas airing in Australia including The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and Days of Our Lives, as well as the Aussie soap, Neighbours.

Debuting in April 1963, General Hospital celebrated its 60th anniversary earlier in 2024 with a primetime special, as well as later having a tribute episode to the late Sonya Eddy, who played irascible head nurse Epiphany Johnson, as well as the return of the Nurses Ball.
General Hospital previously aired on various Australian channels and eventually settled into Network 10 from 1990 to 1997, before moving on to other networks until 2011. During its run on Australian TV, it often lagged behind the American first-run broadcasts, sometimes for weeks and sometimes for years. Fans in the Great Southern Land will be excited that the beloved US soap is returning.
According to 10 Play’s website, new General Hospital episodes will be available, as well as a “backlog of episodes.” The site also noted:
To kick off the new year, you'll be able to catch up on Season 62 episodes of General Hospital on 10 Play, with new episodes arriving within days of the U.S. broadcast.
Finally, fans in Australia will be able to watch General Hospital episodes in a matter of days from when they first air in the U.S., rather than fall behind for ridiculously long stretches of time. The show holds the record for being the longest-running American soap opera still being produced today.
10 Play’s site also described what was available for the other soaps, writing:
At press time, there were 317 fast-tracked episodes available for The Bold and the Beautiful, 231 fast-tracked episodes available for Days of Our Lives, and 119 fast-tracked episodes available for The Young and the Restless. That said, only The Bold and the Beautiful and “Neighbours” air on Network 10, the linear network counterpart of 10 Play.
Neighbours is an Australian-produced soap opera that explores:
The lives and relationships of the residents of Ramsay Street in a fictional suburb of Melbourne called Erinsborough.
The show debuted in 1985 and has launched the careers of many stars, including Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, Jesse Spencer, and Margot Robbie, whose Neighbour's co-star and roommate was Ashleigh Brewer (Ivy Forrester, B&B).
