The Pacific Palisades wildfire raging through the Los Angeles area led former General Hospital star Vanessa Marcil to leave her home behind to find safety.
General Hospital star's harrowing experience
Marcil, who played Brenda Barrett on GH off and on from 1992-2013, took to social media to detail her ordeal. Her Instagram stories are filled with images from the latest devastating California wildfire. From highway scenes to beach scenes, Marcil has illustrated what Southern California residents are witnessing every time they look out the window or step outside.

Marcil thanked the first responders who were hard at work saving lives and trying to contain the blaze.
"The wind is so immensely powerful, we just lost power," she wrote in one post. "Be safe everyone. Much love to @losangelesfiredepartment @lapd and all first responders, thank you."
She later described the situation trying to leave her home and get to a safer area with her family.
"Took me three hours to get to PCH [Pacific Coast Highway] but me and the fam are safe," Marcil wrote in her Instagram stories. "TBD on the house, but it's just stuff. Another reminder of what really matters. Thank you to everyone who checked on us and offered help. Grateful to you all."
Marcil tries to help the animals
The actress also reposted a PSA asking people to be kind to animals who have been displaced by the fire.
"If you're near the Palisades fire, please be mindful that wild animals are fleeing the flames and may show up in your yards," the PSA read. "The California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection advises bringing your pets indoors at night to give wildlife a safe path to pass through. Consider leaving out buckets of water for these animals — they are scared, exhausted, and many have lost their homes. A little kindness can help them recover and survive."
Marcil's longtime GH co-star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) also posted a photo to his Instagram stories, highlighting the enormity of the fire and asking people to go to Marcil's Instagram account for more information.
"This is just so heartbreaking," Benard wrote. "If you want any information, go to @vanessamarcillovesk. She has tons of info on her Instagram."
The Palisades fire began on January 7 at around 10:30 AM PT. By Wednesday morning, more than 50,000 Los Angeles County residents had been evacuated.
