After nearly a year of waiting, General Hospital fans can finally watch Nicholas Alexander Chavez bring killer Lyle Menendez to life this week in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.
The Menendez Brothers' tale told on Netflix
The highly anticipated second season of Ryan Murphy's anthology series Monster drops on Netflix at midnight Pacific Time on September 19. Chavez, who played Spencer Cassadine on GH from 2022 to 2024, joins Cooper Koch, Javier Bardem, and Chloe Sevigny in chronicling the tale of Lyle and Erik Menendez.
The brothers rose to notoriety in 1989 when their parents were killed in their Beverly Hills home. In 1996, Lyle and Erik were convicted as their parents' killers.

Chavez shares his excitement
On Monday, September 16, Chavez attended the Los Angeles red carpet premiere of Monsters and spoke with Entertainment Tonight about how he prepared to take on the role of a real person found guilty of a horrific crime.
"There's a lot of information and also a lot of information that we don't have, and then that is your job as an artist," Chavez said.
With the actor debuting in yet another Ryan Murphy project on September 25 in FX's Grotesquerie, Chavez was asked what he would choose for his next series.
"I couldn't have dreamt a bigger dream than being on Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story," Chavez enthused. "It's a good show."
Chavez also shared some more scene stills from Monsters on Instagram along with a simple caption: "Oh lord here we go."
A General Hospital future for Chavez?
When news broke in the fall of 2023 that Chavez had landed his Monsters role, the actor was only slated to take a break from GH and his role as Spencer. In January of this year, Spencer was presumed dead after Esme injected him with a drug and both characters plunged off a boat into the River Seine.
Spencer and Esme were presumed dead and Spencer's girlfriend, Trina, was forced to grieve and move on without him. In May, Chavez took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce he had officially left the soap world behind.
However, Chavez admitted there was always a possibility he could return to GH down the road.
"While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles," Chavez tweeted.
Whether Chavez ever reprises Spencer remains to be seen, but for now, his fans can catch him in two completely different roles in Monsters and Grotesquerie.
