General Hospital alum John Stamos' tribute to his former Full House costar Dave Coulier

John Stamos was a heartthrob in the 1980s when he played Blackie Parrish on General Hospital. Because of the accidental death of Lou Swenson (Danielle von Zerneck), Blackie was convicted of manslaughter and sent up the river for two years. That was Stamos’ exit from the show, and he would later go on to greater fame starring as Uncle Jesse in the hit sitcom Full House, which ran from 1987 to 1995. Now, Dave Coulier, who played Joey Gladstone on Full House, is dealing with a major illness, and Stamos has promised to be by his side.

Their friendship was deep

Coulier, beloved by fans everywhere, announced he’s dealing with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and told People, “I'm going to be strong throughout this, not just for me, but I'm going to be strong for her,” referring to his wife, Melissa. Coulier has remained optimistic throughout the medical process and has committed himself to beating the odds.

Stamos wasted no time rushing to his buddy’s side as support and comfort, and he wrote on Instagram:

My brother from day 1. Love you @dcoulier and I’ll be by your side through it all.

With those lovely words were several photos of Stamos and Coulier throughout the years, many of which were them making goofy faces or pretending to be in silly situations. Among the pics were the two of them wearing t-shirts with Stamos’ saying “Jesse Loves Joey,” while Coulier’s had “Joey Loves Jesse” on it, referring to each others’ characters on Full House. Another hilarious snap had the two men sleeping in a youth bed with Stamos’ arm wrapped around Coulier wearing Tweety Bird pajamas.

Melissa Coulier, Dave’s wife, expressed her deep gratitude for Stamos’ commitment to his friend, responding:

Love you PP - thank you for the daily support and love!! ❤️❤️

Fans from all over the world sent love and support to Stamos and the Couliers, with @michellemybelle0318 replying:

He has a great support team and Bob watching over him! He’s got this! 🙌🙌❤️.

Bob, of course, is the late, great Bob Saget, who played Danny Tanner on Full House. Sadly, Saget died in January of 2022 from an accidental blow to his head that is presumed to be caused by a fall in his bathroom. Saget is fondly remembered by his co-stars, friends, and fans, many of whom echoed the sentiment that Bob is looking down from Heaven and supporting his ailing friend.
