Although Lulu's first stop after escaping Turning Woods was the house where Maxie now lives, the latest General Hospital character to linger in a coma for years didn't actually see her BFF until the December 11 episode. Maxie was hurt that Lulu didn't seek her out, but their reunion still gave us all the feels.
The Lucy and Ethel of General Hospital?
There was a time when Maxie and Lulu did not get along at all. In fact, Lulu once fought Maxie's sister (Lindze Letherman), Georgie, for Dillon Quartermaine's (Scott Clifton) affections. However, by the time Lulu married Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and wanted to start a family, Maxie was willing to be their surrogate. While a series of unfortunate events resulted in Maxie losing Dante and Lulu's baby early in the pregnancy, Maxie and Lulu still emerged as friends.

Before Lulu's long four-year coma, Maxie and Lulu seemed like the Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz of Port Charles, embarking on one zany adventure after the other. Who can forget when they donned hazmat suits in 2017 to get to the bottom of who ratted out Man Landers? That landed them behind bars for the night, and cop Dante didn't even want to help spring them.
Maxie was there for Lulu the night of the explosion at the Floating Rib and is the only one to know Lulu still loved Dante and was ready to tell him just that before entering her coma. Now the friends are reunited, but girls' nights with Maxie are not on the agenda for Lulu yet.
Lulu's top priority
Although Maxie and Lulu shared a tender reunion, Lulu has more important things on her agenda than manicures and capers with Maxie. First, she has to find her missing daughter, Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez). Locating the teen she hasn't seen in four years is the foremost thing on Lulu's mind, but that doesn't mean she isn't anxious to return to her former life with her BFF. NuLulu Alexa Havins can't wait to recreate that friendship magic with Kirsten Storms.
"I knew who Kirsten was before [joining the show] and I’m so excited to work with her," Havins told Soap Opera Digest. "Kirsten and I were talking and I was like, 'Oh, this is going to be very fun!' She was saying how she likes comedy and a good beat and I was like, 'Oh, I love comedy!' It’s just not quite right yet. We will hopefully get there, and get back to that magic between the friends. I really am excited about where the relationship can go because I’ve heard so many good things about their friendship and the fun they’ve had, the nonsense they’ve gotten into."
After Lulu finds Charlotte, she will need her best friend around to give her some advice on her love life. Maybe it's time for Dante to know how Lulu really feels about him...
