Rena Sofer appeared from 1993 to 1996 on General Hospital as Lois Cerullo, a vibrant and dynamic character known for her strong personality and complex background. Sofer won a Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1995 for her portrayal of Lois Cerullo.
As Lois and her on-screen husband, Ned Ashton (played by Wally Kurth), were considered a Port Charles power couple, it's worth noting that Wally Kurth was also Sofer's real-life husband and the father of her two daughters, Rosabel and Avalon. A prominent figure on the show, Lois is Brook Lynn’s mother, a fast-talking New Yorker who isn’t afraid of the Quartermaines.
After being away from General Hospital for nearly 30 years, Sofer felt it was “really weird” to return, noting the mix of familiar and new faces. “I felt like a fish out of water. But it was also the same building,” she explained, adding, “So it was a little discomforting, but it was also a little deja vu.”

Rena Sofer's return to General Hospital was initially on a short-term contract but has since been changed to a recurring status. Sofer recently shared more details about her return.
“It just really seemed like an absolutely perfect time to have Lois come back for a short amount of time to try to get Eddie to remember that he’s Ned,” Sofer told Digest at the time. “So Frank reached out to me and asked me if I’d be willing to come back for a short amount of time and I said yes.”
Sofer also stated that playing Lois again felt like coming "full circle", as she plans to move to the East Coast with her husband.
