Several General Hospital cast members appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show. The actors were Finola Hughes (Anna), Laura Wright (Carly), Tanisha Harper (Jordan), Donnell Turner (Curtis), Cameron Mathison (Drew), and Maurice Benard (Sonny). The gang was clearly excited to be on the show as they danced their way into the studio. They had some fun stories and even honored the late icon, Leslie Charleson, who played the Quartermaine matriarch, Monica. Each actor had something to tell, and when it came to Turner, he revealed a little-known fact about which actor caused him to be starstruck.
He became a fanboy
At one point, Hudson noted that the General Hospital actors all had distinctive voices. Hughes remarked, “It is actually a voice medium, like, because people can be in the kitchen and they can hear their favorite character. And they're like, ‘Oh, I want to go and see [what’s going on].” Turner then chimed in and said he wanted to tell a “Finola story.” He recounted when he did his screen test for the show and an actor was called down to his dressing room to read lines with him.

He was surprised when Hughes came to do the reading, explaining, “Finola knocks on the door. I was starstruck because I used to watch the show as a kid. And so she arrives at my door and immediately I just said, ‘Oh my goodness, I've been a fan. I've been watching you since I'm 10 years old, blah blah blah.” He then stated that Hughes became very professional with an emotionless face. Turner then did an impression of Hughes who simply stated, in her British accent, “Are you ready to rehearse?”
Turner added that upon hearing her “Iconic voice…I almost hit the floor.” He felt that his gushing probably didn’t sound professional or like a compliment and thought to himself, “In the future, I will just say, ‘longtime fan.’” He apologized to her, chalking his behavior up to being starstruck by Hughes being in the same room with him and hearing her voice.
At a later point, the General Hospital cast were asked if they’d ever heard rumors about themselves. Wright jumped in and brought up one of her favorite rumors that occurred in 2017. Instead of taking an Uber to an Emmy party, Donnell drove Wright, which was on a particular Wednesday evening. She continued, “On Saturday, there was a gifting suite for the Daytime Emmy Awards, and I walk in, and Donnell runs up to me, and he's like, ‘I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I don't know how this happened.’ And I'm like, ‘What happened?’ ”
Turner explained that there was an article that spread a rumor that the two were dating. She remarked, “I go, ‘Oh my God, thank you.” Turner was surprised she wasn’t angry and asked her why. Her response was, “Are you kidding me? Look at you. No, I'm not mad…I'm single. Yeah, we can feed those rumors. I don't care.”
