Longtime General Hospital fans know that Finola Hughes and her character Anna Devane have a history of dancing. Anna famously danced the Tango with the late Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan), causing viewers to hope every year that she’ll do the same thing at the annual Nurses’ Ball. Her ardent fans recall that she was in Staying Alive (1983), the sequel to the John Travolta megahit, Saturday Night Fever (1977). Now, that film is being revisited creatively, and Hughes was on hand to reveal it.

She’s a doll

On Instagram, Hughes shared a video with the caption, “A huge thank you to @hextian for creating this one-of-a-kind doll. She is gorgeous and I am so happy she gets to live with me (& my daughter, we are huge fans of your doll videos) 💕.” She also thanked several people with, “Big thank you to Jen Moore, Aimee, Denise, Aurora, Sly, Rachel, Dana, Kat, Lisa, Niki, Theresa, Kelly McP, Queen Anna, Nadia, Michelle, Kathy, Courtney, Holly, Shainna, Erika, Brian L,Tarita, Kathy, Karen, Cat 💫💫💫 🙏🏻.”

Her video was set to the Bee Gees classic tune, Night Fever, and she opened a box revealing a doll created in the exact likeness of her character from Staying Alive. She explained, “This is a doll created by Hextian, who is a famous doll artist. And some of my fans commissioned him to make this doll. Which is me. You see her face there, that was me in Staying Alive, when I played the character of Laura.”

It even has her movie costume

She further explained that the doll’s costume was a replica of the one she wore in the last act of the film and was, “Designed by Bob Mackie. And Hextian, you did an unbelievable job with this. This is absolutely beautiful.” She then praised him with, “You're an incredible artist, and everybody should check you out on YouTube and go and see some of his gorgeous videos about all the wonderful dolls that he creates, and to my fans who thought of this. To celebrate beginning on General Hospital 40 years ago, because this was me 40 years ago,” she chuckled.

She ended on a funny note, remarking, “I mean, I kind of looked like this,” and thanked Hextian, remarking, “I am so, so thrilled with this.” Kimberly McCullough, who played Hughes’ General Hospital daughter Robin Scorpio, reacted, “Stop it right now! I need one!” Co-star Laura Wright (Carly) replied, “Incredible!!!!!!” while Kristina Wagner (Felicia) commented, “Omg! Dazzling disco girl! 🪩.”

Other castmate reactions included General Hospital alum Ryan Paevey (ex-Nathan), who stated, “That is so so cool….” and Cameron Mathison (Drew) shared some applause emojis. Cassandra James (Terri) wrote, “I’m obsessed with you! 😍🤩💖,” and Hughes’ former All My Children co-star Vincent Irizarry (David) remarked, “Stayin' Alive, apropo for sure, sweetie! Very cool 💖💝🥰💝💖.”

Hextian himself reacted excitedly with, “Omggggg im so happy she came to you safely! It was such an honor for me to create your mini me, and thank you for watching my videos as well! You and your fans are so amazing and incredible and thank you for allowing me to make this doll! ❤️ ❤️ 🔥.”
