It's been nearly three months since General Hospital's Sam died and at least two months since her autopsy showed that she didn't die from a natural heart attack. Instead, she passed due to an overdose of Digitalis. Unfortunately, those in charge at GH decided to keep this information to themselves.
General Hospital doctors blame Elizabeth? WHAT?!?!
We could understand Portia (Brook Kerr) and Terry (Cassandra James) thinking it was a slight possibility that Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) or one of her nurses had been negligent and allowed Sam (Kelly Monaco) to get a medication she should never have had. By the time they knew Dex (Evan Hofer) died from the same drug, it should have been clear that something hinky was going on. That kind of thing does not happen twice.

Both doctors should have also known beyond a shadow of a doubt that Elizabeth wasn't a cold-blooded killer, especially her childhood BFF Terry. The fact that they suspended her was unreal when it happened and remains baffling. However, that's not the only mess with this storyline.
Ok, where's the police?
It's also been two weeks since Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) was essentially able to prove there is a Digitalis killer roaming the hospital halls. Michael (Chad Duell) nearly died due to cardiac arrest, but a Digitalis antidote saved him. Elizabeth had been suspended by then, so she wasn't on duty.
Isaiah told Portia that it was time to bring in the police, but she still refused to do it. In fact, she told nobody what she and Isaiah suspected until this week.
Sam had a mom, guys
On the January 28th episode, Sam's mother finally learned that her perfectly healthy daughter didn't go into cardiac arrest on her own. Someone sent her into cardiac arrest, resulting in her death. Perhaps Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) should have been the first one who learned of the results of Sam's autopsy since she was her next of kin.
How could the hospital keep this from a patient's family? How could the patient's family even keep this a secret? Lucas (Van Hansis) has known that Sam died from a Digitalis overdose for months and never said a word to his former stepmother. Lucas has also known that Dex died from the same thing, and Michael nearly died thanks to this drug. He has even gone rogue and started investigating the Digitalis deaths with Liz and Lucky, yet still never mentioned any of this to Alexis.
Now that Alexis knows, she is ready to fight and find the person who murdered her daughter, but it never should have taken this long for her to find out.
