Heather woke a startled Alexis, who was disappointed to learn that her situation was real and that she hadn't just dreamed about having Heather as a cellmate. Heather tried giving Alexis some handy advice about prison life, but Alexis assured Heather that she was an old pro. "This is not my first rodeo," Alexis said.
Alexis was surprised by how sincere Heather seemed when Heather offered to do whatever she could to help. Alexis said she was sure the charges would be dropped, but Heather wanted to lend Alexis emotional support. "You lost a grandbaby, and you almost lost your daughter. I am so sorry," Heather said.
Heather admitted that she dreamed of spending time with her grandson, Ace. "I never held my grandson in my arms. I had an actual shot at getting out of here for one minute, but nope," Heather sighed. Alexis was shocked when a guard arrived to take her to see her lawyer.
In the visitor's room, Alexis was surprised to see Marty. He explained that Sonny had hired him as her new lawyer. Marty advised Alexis not to refuse counsel. Alexis agreed, saying, "You'd think as an attorney I'd learn not to incriminate myself."

Alexis then told Marty why she was behind bars. "I'm not here defending myself. I'm here protecting Kristina...she had nothing to do with Cates's murder, but considering how things went down, I'm not sure she'll be able to convince a jury of that," Alexis admitted.
Alexis told Marty about finding the gun and disposing of it because she'd thought Kristina had planned to hurt herself. Marty insisted that Alexis amend her statement about the gun. He wanted her to tell the police about Kristina's mental state, but Alexis refused. "Then I'd have to explain that she took my car and that she ended up at the Quartermaines' that night, and the reason why...she was looking for Cates to kill him," Alexis said.
Marty still wanted Alexis to change her statement, but Alexis wouldn't budge. "If someone is going to stand trial for a murder they didn't commit, it will be me, because she can't handle it," Alexis insisted.
Marty piqued Alexis' curiosity with another idea. "You know what they say about biting the hand that feeds you? If we don't come forward about the gun, Kristina, and what she was doing that night, then your only chance of winning your case is to prove that John Cates was murdered by the man paying my fee—Sonny Corinthos," Marty said.
Brennan arrived just as Carly was opening Bobbie's. Brennan told Carly that Jason and Anna had been invited into Sidwell's compound but hadn't found Lucky yet. Still, Brennan had some concerns. He worried that Sidwell's girlfriend might not be on the up and up.
Carly worried that Jason wouldn't be able to lie, so Brennan wondered if he would follow Anna's lead, since some men didn't like listening to women. Carly laughed that off and called the notion old-fashioned. Just then, Diane walked in and asked to speak to Carly alone.
After Brennan left, Diane warned Carly not to flirt with Brennan publicly, so people would still believe she had slept with Sonny the night John had been killed. Carly assured Diane that she and Brennan were just friends. Diane reminded Carly that it was all about appearances. Diane also suggested that Carly and Sonny move in with one another to solidify Sonny's alibi. Carly vehemently refused. Diane refused to take no for an answer.
"Carly, if you can't convince all of those probing eyes watching you that you and Sonny are reunited, then they will conclude that Sonny's alibi is fiction, and they will not stop digging until they find something very damning on Sonny," Diane said.
Sonny was pleased to see Natalia stop by Pozzulo's to go over Deception business. Natalia impressed Sonny with her espresso-making skills while they discussed Alexis' case. Sonny was worried about Kristina. Natalia admitted that Blaze was also worried about Kristina, but Sonny didn't think it was the right time for Blaze to reach out.
Just as Sonny took Natalia's hand, Carly walked in. Natalia quickly made herself scarce so Carly could speak with Sonny.
"Are you kidding me right now? Diane just came to Bobbie's and read me the riot act for flirting, and you're in here getting handsy with what's her name?" Carly asked incredulously. Sonny just wanted to know who Carly had been flirting with, but Carly refused to tell him.
Sonny could only roll his eyes when Carly told him Diane said they needed to fall in love again. "Diane said there's no way the one-night stand will hold up as an iron-clad alibi...We have to make people think we're getting back together," Carly relayed.
Sonny looked at the situation pragmatically when he said, "I guess you're stuck as my girlfriend." Carly worried that Donna's heart would be broken if she believed her parents were getting back together but then didn't. Sonny was undeterred and suggested they have dinner in public.
T.J. was pleasantly surprised to find Molly setting up breakfast in his office. T.J. had let Molly sleep in but asked her where she'd been the night before. Molly admitted she had gone to the Brown Dog bar for a drink and had run into Dex. Molly told T.J. that Dex has been helpful in keeping her up to date on Alexis' case.
T.J. told Molly that he was there for her and apologized for not returning her texts and voicemails. Molly accepted his apology before telling T.J. how baffled she was that Alexis would act as her own lawyer. "She's smarter than that," Molly said.
Molly was sure that Alexis was protecting Kristina but wasn't sure what Alexis was protecting Kristina from. "Sam thinks Sonny is behind this, but my mom would not sacrifice herself for Sonny. She would for Kristina. I think Kristina had something to do with John's murder," Molly said.
Molly and T.J. shared some tender moments in which T.J. promised to be there for Molly. She soon received a work text and had to leave for a meeting. Stella arrived to have a heart-to-heart with her nephew. T.J. admitted that he and Molly were having a hard time connecting.
"Auntie, whenever I try to discuss my feelings, Molly gets overwhelmed. I'm trying to be patient. I know she's grieving, too...I don't want to blame or resent Molly, but I have to admit I am starting to," T.J. said. Stella suggested that T.J. be honest with Molly about his grief.
Dante brought Kristina back to her apartment after her stay at Alexis' house. Kristina noted how much her life had changed since she had last been home. Kristina also worried about Alexis, but Dante wanted to make sure that Kristina focused on herself. Kristina assured Dante she was seeking therapy and joining a support group.
Chase soon dropped by to question Kristina. Dante agreed to make himself scarce, but as soon as he was in the hallway he called someone to tell them Kristina was "about to do something she shouldn't."
In the apartment, Kristina told Chase he could ask her anything about Alexis, "but I can tell you right now, she's innocent." Chase said he wasn't there to talk about Alexis but wanted to know where Kristina had been the night of John's murder. Kristina asked why her whereabouts were important. Chase said he only wanted to tie up some loose ends.
Kristina reiterated that she had been at the cemetery the night that John had been killed, but nobody had seen her there. Kristina was alarmed when Chase told her that her car had been parked at the Metro Court since her fall out the window. She didn't know what to say when Chase asked if she had driven Alexis' car to Irene's grave.
Kristina finally told Chase she had taken a ride share, but Chase wanted to know which one. Before she could answer, Diane popped in and told Chase to make an appointment to question Kristina when her lawyer was available. After Chase left, Kristina asked for legal advice. The only thing Diane suggested was that Kristina keep her mouth shut, as anything she said was not attorney-client privilege. Diane reminded Kristina that she wasn't Kristina's lawyer.
Diane assured Kristina that whatever she'd said to Chase was inadmissible in court because she didn't have a lawyer, but it could still fuel a new avenue of investigation.
Later, Chase tracked Dante down at the hospital and mentioned that Diane had shown up while he'd been questioning Kristina. "Do you have any idea how that happened?" Chase asked.
Dante said he didn't think it was the right time for the police to question Kristina. After all, her mother was in jail, and she had just lost her baby.
