The Quartermaines mysteriously skipped over Thanksgiving this year so no burnt turkey tales. However, General Hospital made up for missing all that sardonic merriness and mirth with a Christmas bash for the ages. While the results of the Quartermaines getting together in one room was the highlight of the week, GH gave us a few other stunners that we — and the citizens of Port Charles — never saw coming.
Happy viewing, Q fam
The Qs are having a Christmas party? What could go wrong? Well, for the famous feuding fam and their guests, almost everything. But for the viewers, it was all oh-so-right.

Somehow, Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) morphed from good-guy ex-Navy SEAL before his plane went down over Afghanistan to Carly's (Laura Wright) lapdog before becoming the creepiest creep on soaps. It's been quite a journey watching Drew fall on his sword and go to jail for Carly's crime while leaving his daughter behind to a billionaire convicted felon and devious politician paying off people to keep quiet about his sex scandal so he can get elected.
Tracy (Jane Elliot) and Ned (Wally Kurth), whose own moral codes are questionable, have had Drew's number for months, as has stable hand Cody (Josh Kelly). Now, Michael knows his uncle will lie to anyone, Curtis (Donnell Turner) knows Drew will backstab anyone, and every guest at the Q holiday bash knows he would sleep with his nephew's wife on the playroom floor the night his ex-wife and mother of his only living child died. That's our Drew.
We watched with giddy glee as jaws dropped straight to the floor while the guests got an eyeful and learned the truth about the two most (im)perfect people they'd ever met.
The fallout went pretty much as expected, but it was predictable Quartermaine fallout, and anything with the Qs is always fun. Ned (Wally Kurth) and Tracy (Jane Elliot) were in rare form as they read Drew for filth. We even got a little family history when Drew reminded Ned that he slept with his Aunt Monica (Leslie Charleson). Ned had to remind Drew that he didn't know Monica was his aunt. Yes, it was a day in the life of the Quartermaines, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Little Miss Priss
Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) reverted to form as expected and blamed Michael for the most mortifying moment of her life just the same way she blamed Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) for Michael learning about the first time she ever kissed Drew on the Fourth of July. The fact that she kissed Drew and later had sex with him was apparently not a factor in Willow's mind. Her life being blown to smithereens had to be someone else's fault, right?
It was glorious watching Sasha want to slap the smug and selfish look right off Willow's wincing face when the ice queen glared at Sasha in the Quartermaine kitchen. Maxie picked up on the tension right away and had to know what was going on. Sasha and Willow had been BFFs for years, but Sasha had finally had it with Little Miss Priss, her judgemental ways, and her hypocritical lack of self-awareness. Just wait until Willow learns that Sasha is pregnant with her husband's child. Sasha should brag and gloat to knock Willow down a peg or 10.
Now, Willow needs her mother?
Little Miss Priss just might show her true colors on Monday and show she is not the sweet, delicate flower that Carly has always believed she was. When Willow sees Carly has turned on her like a dime (and like many fans expected), she fights back and puts Carly in her place. She has her real mother now, which will only re-ignite the Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Carly rivalry. Bring it on this time because Nina actually has someone in her corner. Plus, Willow will not know how it feels to be persona non grata.
After the way Willow has treated Nina since learning she was her mother, as well as the way she treated her when she learned she ratted Carly and Drew out to the SEC, it's really rich that Nina is the one she's turning to now. And, speaking of Nina...
Missed opportunity?
Rather than having Nina and Lulu (Alexa Havins) bond over being the victims of years-long comas, we got the not-so-pleasurable experience of watching Lulu Spencer scream at Nina like a common Carly Spencer — as if Nina needed more of that in her life.
Nina was in a coma for 20 years. Although she pointed that out to Lulu and was even kind to her when she first barreled into her office, Lulu didn't care. Instead, she accused Nina of all sorts of things she didn't do, and Nina fought back, as was her right to do. But the story was right there. When we learned Lulu was going to wake, all we wanted was to see both dramatic and comical scenes of Lulu and Nina comparing coma notes, and instead, it was all glossed over so Lulu could yell. Um, thanks, GH?
Yeah, why is Dex dead?
That's a question we can't stop asking ourselves. What was the point of Dex (Evan Hofer) if he was going to be killed off in the weirdest way? Why was he chem-tested with Molly (Kristen Vaganos), who just broke up with TJ (Tajh Bellow)? Why were we subjected to some really bad footage of his on-location (meaning the park by the GH studio) police training set to a musical montage? Make it make sense!
We get it. Some characters are expendable, but why did we see him try to call his mother, making us believe he would get a true back story? Yes, his death will lead to more clues surrounding Sam's (Kelly Monaco) death and make Cyrus (Jeff Kober) look more awful than ever. We also get Elizabeth involved in a hot hospital plot, but if we are now going to have to watch Josslyn (Eden McCoy) mourn him for the next year, this death is not worth it at all.
Alexis gets a clue
Perhaps Ric's (Rick Hearst) harsh words for Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) sunk into her dysfunctional head because her scenes with both Molly and Kristina (Kate Mansi) were glorious this past week. Sure, Kristina is still a delusional narcissistic brat, but at least Alexis didn't coddle her as always. That job was left up to Sonny (Maurice Benard) as he just nodded at whatever his nutjob of a daughter had to say and then handed her a bar. (Hey, at least we know what happened to poor Phyllis — she went home to Nixon Falls. Glad we finally have that cleared up.)
Alexis was the mother Molly has always needed and wanted, and we're happy she has a roommate now. Alexis even told Kristina she was wrong. When was the last time someone did that who wasn't named Molly? Kristina needed to hear that despite it falling on deaf ears. Nope, she is not going to apologize to the only sister she has left because Kristina is Kristina.
Raving about Rava...and Lucas???
How delightful to watch Ric and Ava (Maura West) flirt over a charcuterie board and champagne that neither one of them could afford! They didn't even know they couldn't afford their lovely dinner at the Port Charles Grille until Ava tried to pay, but her credit card was declined — as was Ric's after he learned the check Ava gave him bounced. And Ava had just been talking about buying a house. Whoops! Guess that's not gonna happen any time soon.
But the icing on the cake was when Ava called the only family member she could think of to help her out, and Lucas (Van Hansis) showed up. He gladly paid the bill before sitting down to have a burger and disrupt Lucas and Ava's date. Is Lucas going to have to give his aunt a place to live now, too? That could be fun...
Ric is going to need a new source of income now. Perhaps he will summon Heather (Alley Mills) back to town and sue the medical device company that made her faulty cobalt-laden hip. That would take care of an inexplicably dropped story and give Portia (Brook Kerr) more grief. So, let's do it.
Anna made her bed...
Anna (Finola Hughes) knows she screwed up royally last summer when she not only let Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) get away, she helped him escape with his teenage daughter. Her guilt is driving her to pull out all the stops to bring Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) home to reunite with her mother, but why can't she do this without Jason (Steve Burton)? Why can't she do anything these days without Jason?
Anna also seems to have lost her way. She was all about law and order and following the book when she landed her new job as police commissioner after shooting an unarmed teenager, but now she bends or breaks the rules and the law whenever and wherever she sees fit. A cop using a hitman to shake down a lawyer is not a good look, Anna.
Until next week, GH fans, when Drew might become as homeless as Nina and Carly's bark might not be a match for Willow's bite.
