At an undisclosed location, Lucky was handcuffed and held captive in a small cell. After a guard removed the sack from Lucky’s head, another guard entered and approached Lucky. The lead guard began to question Lucky about the guards that Lucky had neutralized before being captured. He questioned Lucky’s skill because none had been killed. Lucky admitted that it wouldn’t have been a good look if he’d killed his “future co-workers.” “I hear your boss pays well. I’ve just proven that I can hold my own. Any questions?” Lucky asked.
The lead guard demanded to know who Lucky was. “Just call me Lucky,” Lucky said. Unimpressed, the lead guard resumed his interrogation. When Lucky painted himself as a man willing to do anything for the right price, the lead guard instructed his partner to fetch the doctor. Lucky assumed the doctor would tend to the wound on his arm, so he asked if he’d been hired. “Not yet,” the lead guard cryptically replied. Moments later, a man was shoved into the cell.
The lead guard handed Lucky a gun and ordered Lucky to shoot the doctor. The doctor’s eyes rounded with alarm as Lucky took aim and fired. However, the gun was not loaded. Satisfied, the guard took the gun and confirmed that Lucky had passed the test. After the two guards left, Lucky started to say something to the doctor, but the doctor punched Lucky. Isaiah was furious that Lucky had fired the gun, but Lucky assured his friend that he'd known that gun hadn’t been loaded based on the weapon’s weight.
“It was a judgment call, and I was right,” Lucky said. Reluctantly, Isaiah began to treat Lucky’s wound, but he wasn’t happy that Lucky had mounted a rescue. Isaiah insisted that he’d had things under control, but Lucky was skeptical. Frustrated, Isaiah asked if Lucky had a plan, but Lucky was forced to admit that he didn’t. Isaiah warned Lucky that escape was impossible, but Lucky knew better because Lucky’s father had taught him that there was always a way out.

At the new WSB office in Port Charles, Jack Brennan thanked Carly for stopping by. “Did I have a choice?” she asked. “Always,” Jack assured her. Carly was not happy that he’d sent two agents to escort her to his office, and she demanded to know what was going on. Jack admitted that he’d been using Carly.
As if on cue, Jason arrived. “Jason Morgan. Just the man I wanted to see,” Jack said with a smile. Carly resented being used to get to Jason, so she turned to leave. Jack called out to her and offered to take her to dinner to make amends, but she turned him down. Undaunted, Jack promised to call her. Jason started to follow Carly out, but Jack asked him to stay.
Carly was surprised when Jason agreed. After Carly left, Jason questioned Brennan about the missing FBI evidence against Carly. Brennan didn’t deny making the RICO charges go away, but Jason worried what might happen down the road. Brennan explained that it wouldn’t matter if the incriminating audio file resurfaced because the chain of custody had been broken, so the evidence wouldn’t be admissible. Brennan claimed that Carly had been unjustly accused for simply trying to protect her family. “So, you’re a good Samaritan?” Jason asked. “I believe in justice. Well, as I define it, of course,” Brennan said.
Brennan suggested that he and Jason had that in common, so they should work together. Brennan explained that he needed an operative with Jason’s particular skill set. “Not interested,” Jason said. Brennan assured Jason that Jason would be working off the books and would only answer to Brennan, so Jason asked what he would be expected to do. Brennan admitted that it would be on a case-by-case basis. “Some people need simple persuasion, others may need to be removed from the playing field,” Brennan said.
Jason reiterated that he wasn’t interested. “Not yet,” Brennan replied with confidence. Brennan acknowledged that both Anna and Carly saw Jason as someone who was indestructible, but Jason denied that he was. “Close enough,” Brennan countered. Brennan promised to pay Jason well and to let Jason carry out the assignments as Jason saw fit, but Jason remained uninterested. Brennan asked Jason to think about it because it would be a “mutually beneficial” relationship.
When Brennan suggested that Jason consider Brennan helping Carly a sign of good faith, Jason made it clear that he was not indebted to Brennan in any way. Jason refused to work for Brennan, but Brennan clarified that he wanted Jason to work with Brennan, not for him. Jason wasn’t swayed, but Brennan was confident that he and Jason would talk when Brennan had something that Jason wanted.
In Anna’s office, Anna asked Robert to reach out to his contacts to help her find Valentin. Robert objected. “Why would I want to help you track him down?” Robert asked. Anna explained that Laura had asked her to find Charlotte because Lulu had suffered a medical setback. Robert relented, so Anna shared that she was certain Brennan had helped Valentin vanish, so it was imperative that they not tip Brennan off. Robert agreed that the WSB would want to keep Valentin hidden because Valentin would expose the WSB’s role in Pikeman.
Robert offered to make a few phone calls, but he wanted Anna’s assurance that it was only about bringing Charlotte home. “What else would it be about?” Anna asked in an innocent tone. Robert warned her not to kid a kidder.
Shortly after Robert left, Carly entered Anna’s office. “What does Jack Brennan want with Jason?” Carly asked. Carly told Anna about Brennan’s efforts to lure Jason to Brennan’s office, but Anna assured Carly that Jason could take care of himself. Carly worried that Brennan might follow John Cates’s example by using her to manipulate Jason. “I’ll be damned if I’m going to let Brennan do the same thing,” Carly said.
Anna conceded that it was possible that Brennan would try to get Jason to do Brennan’s dirty work. Anna asked if Brennan had anything on Carly that could be used against Jason. “Not that I know of,” Carly said. Anna admitted that it wasn’t like Brennan to go after his goal directly. Anna had no idea what Brennan was up to, but she intended to find out.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Lois entered the living room as Gio practiced the violin. When Gio hit a note he didn’t like, he stopped. “You sound like a broken record,” Lois teased. “What’s a record?” Gio shot back with a smile. Gio explained that it had been a difficult piece of music, and it had sounded off to him. Lois confessed that her whole day had been off, and she opened up to him about the caller who had complained about her Brooklyn accent.
Gio pointed out that it didn’t matter what the caller had said as long as she had bought product. “Which she did,” he reminded his aunt. Lois praised Gio for being as smart as he was handsome, but she wondered if losing her accent might increase sales. Gio argued that Lois’ accent was part of who she was, but Lois told him that a good businessperson listened to their customers. Gio shared that everyone in the family group chat had praised Lois’ appearance, but she remained unconvinced. Gio insisted that his Aunt Lois was one of the coolest and kindest people he knew, and he loved her accent.
Lois decided to look up the sales during her appearance. Gio pointed out that she had sold more product the more she had talked, but Lois attributed the spike in sales to a good sales pitch. Lois was certain that she would reach a wider range of people if she sounded sophisticated. After Gio left, Lois made a phone call to hire a dialect coach.
On the patio outside the kitchen, Tracy was planting flowers as Brook Lynn talked about her mother’s successful appearance on Haven’s show. Tracy confessed that she was surprised that Lois hadn’t had a zinger for the caller, which was unusual for Lois. As Tracy entered the kitchen, Chase walked in and greeted Brook Lynn. Tracy quietly listened as Chase told Brook Lynn about Lulu’s setback. When Tracy suddenly rushed off, Brook Lynn explained that Tracy and Lulu had been close and that Tracy had been like a mother to her stepdaughter.
Chase was stunned when Brook Lynn shared that Lulu had gotten pregnant with Dillon’s baby in high school. When Chase asked about the baby, Brook Lynn revealed that Lulu had terminated the pregnancy because she hadn’t been ready to be a mother, but Brook Lynn credited Dillon for having been ready to step up.
Chase was curious why Brook Lynn and Lulu hadn’t gotten along. Brook Lynn was honest. “She always thought that I was after Dante,” she confessed. Brook Lynn explained that Carly had paid her to seduce Dante away from Lulu. Brook Lynn promised that Chase had no reason to be jealous because Dante and Lulu had been unbreakable, and Brook Lynn had been destined for Chase.
After Brook Lynn and Chase shared a kiss, Brook Lynn admitted that she hadn’t shared a lot about her troubled teen years with Chase. Chase assured her that they had the rest of their lives. Brook Lynn seemed on the verge of telling him something, but Yuri walked in and asked if everything was okay. Chase explained that he and Brook Lynn had gotten some bad news about a friend. Yuri was apologetic and revealed that he had stopped in the kitchen to fetch Violet a glass of milk.
When Yuri mentioned that Violet missed her father, Brook Lynn decided to take the milk to Violet and check on her niece. After Yuri left, Chase asked what Brook Lynn had been about to tell him, but Brook Lynn brushed it off. After Chase left to check on Violet, Brook Lynn’s expression turned troubled. Chase returned a short time later and confirmed that Violet had been missing both Finn and Gregory.
Chase admitted that he couldn’t help but wonder if Lulu’s decline might be the “natural end” of Lulu’s body, much like Gregory’s passing had been. Brook Lynn confessed that she thought Chase might be right, but it wouldn’t make it easier on Lulu’s loved ones to lose Lulu.
In Portia’s office, Laura was seated next to Elizabeth as Portia and Dr. Conlon explained that Lulu had developed medical cirrhosis of the liver. Portia added that cirrhosis was the buildup of scar tissue on the liver, which affected the liver’s ability to filter toxins. Dr. Conlon revealed that Lulu’s medical records indicated that Lulu had been on the same medications for nearly four years, which had likely caused Lulu’s liver failure. Dr. Conlon promised to do everything possible to help Lulu.
After Dr. Conlon was called away, Laura asked how the doctors at Silver Waters had missed it. Portia explained that Lulu’s condition had masked the symptoms, which had included a loss of appetite, fatigue, abdominal pain, and itchy skin. Elizabeth assured Laura that they would be able to treat those issues. Portia agreed. “Those are symptoms. What about a cure? How do you save my daughter’s life?” Laura asked Portia.
Meanwhile, Dante sat at Lulu’s bedside as he quietly spoke to her. He urged her to get better for the sake of her children. “'Cause we need you in our lives. All of us,” he said. Dante looked up and saw Sam standing in the doorway. She entered the room and softly asked how Lulu was. When he told her that it was Lulu’s liver, Sam assured him that Lulu was at the right place.
Dante and Sam stepped into the hallway to continue their conversation. Sam was supportive and assured Dante that she was there if he needed to talk. Grateful, Dante told Sam that he loved her. Sam smiled, and she admitted that she knew that a part of his heart would always be with Lulu. “Because when you love someone, they become a part of you—and I don’t want you to lose that,” Sam said.
A few minutes later, Laura and Elizabeth walked up. Laura told Dante and Sam about Lulu’s diagnosis and revealed that Lulu would need a liver transplant. Elizabeth explained that the transplant would be relatively easy, but they would need to find a suitable donor. Elizabeth filled them in on the process of transplanting a portion of a liver from a living donor, and the lobe’s capacity to regenerate and grow into a fully functioning liver. Dante assured Laura that he and Rocco would get tested, and Sam offered to be tested, as well.
Laura intended to ask all of Lulu’s family members to be tested, but she acknowledged that Lulu’s best chance at avoiding rejection was if the donation was from a close relative. “Like a brother,” Dante realized. Dante suspected that a full sibling would be best. Laura agreed, but she admitted that she had no idea where Lucky was. However, Laura intended to go to Flatland Prison to ask Nikolas to be tested. Laura revealed that she hoped to persuade the prison warden to transfer Nikolas to General Hospital for the procedure.
Moments later, Portia walked up with good news. Portia explained that she had talked to the doctor at Flatland Prison, and Nikolas could be tested in the infirmary. Laura was pleased because time was of the essence. After Portia left, Dante squeezed Laura’s hand and assured her that Lulu would be okay.
When Dante and Sam walked Laura to the elevator, Laura promised to call as soon as she arrived at Flatland Prison and had the results of the tests. Once Laura was gone, Dante and Sam admitted that they were hopeful because Nikolas had been a match for Lulu in the past. Sam promised Dante that he was not alone.
In Lulu’s hospital room, Tracy stood at the foot of Lulu’s bed. “I think about you all the time,” Tracy said with emotion. “You have no idea how much I miss you,” she admitted. Tracy sat beside the bed and began to gently stroke Lulu’s hand. Tracy confessed that she had loved watching Lulu grow up. She asked Lulu to hang in because no child of Luke Spencer’s ever gave up.
Tracy insisted that Lulu had Luke’s heart, his courage, and his stubbornness. She was certain that Lulu would get through it. “Your dad wouldn’t have it any other way,” Tracy said. She lovingly kissed Lulu’s hand.
