Kristen Vaganos spent 2024 making the role of General Hospital's Molly Lansing-Davis her own. The actress joined the cast in 2023 after multiple short-lived recasts of the character played by Haley Pullos for more than a decade and breathed new life into Alexis' youngest daughter.

Until Molly and TJ decided to become parents, the couple often lingered in the background. We knew Molly was an efficient, organized, straight-laced young lawyer who succeeded in everything she set out to do. When Vaganos took over the role, Molly moved to the front burner and we got to know a lot more about what makes her tick.

Vaganos offered us a more mature Molly with more layers than we'd seen before. The character came into her own as a grown woman with real-life grown-woman problems. While Molly was never timid, Vaganos brought out a more assertive side. We finally saw Molly's POV about the dysfunctional family she grew up in. The most "normal" Davis girl also needed and wanted attention, and Mama Alexis had to learn that the hard way.
Vaganos admits that coming in as a recast had its share of challenges, but thanks to her co-stars, she was able to hit the ground running.
"It was a lot in the beginning, and it was crazy to jump in," she told Women's World in an interview. "But I’m grateful for it, in hindsight. Spending a lot of time with Molly, all the people in her life, and Tajh [Bellow, TJ], Nancy [Lee Grahn, Alexis], and Kate [Mansi, Kristina] was the quickest way for me to immerse myself in that character. It allowed me to figure out all Molly’s dynamics, and then put my own spin on it."
Vaganos eventually got to work one-on-one with another veteran GH star and was terrified at the thought of it until she read how it all played out.
Molly takes charge on General Hospital

After Kristina fell through a window and plunged into the pool at nine months pregnant, losing the baby she was carrying as a surrogate for Molly and TJ, Molly lashed out at everyone around her — including her Uncle Sonny, who also happened to be Kristina's father.
When Sonny tried to visit Kristina in the hospital after she woke from surgery, Molly took charge and blocked the door to Kristina's room. She informed Sonny that Kristina was only in Ava's (Maura West) hotel room to fight Ava's subpoena, forcing Kristina to testify against Sonny in court. Molly had no problem standing up to Maurice Benard's Sonny and placing the blame on him for what happened.
"I was so scared, going up against the heavy hitter," she said. "But the funny thing is, that scene was written so that I win. He’s a small, little scared man who barely talks back, so it was kind of awesome! I hope to do a scene with him where we’re really going at each other, but our first toe-to-toe was an easy win for me."
Will Sonny and Molly have another chance to battle it out one day? Stay tuned to find out.
