Lawyer Scott “Scotty” Baldwin (Kin Shriner), who sometimes comes across as an ambulance chaser in a cheap suit, is often in demand on General Hospital. There are many Port Charles citizens who require an attorney, and when the high-profile ones like Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) or Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) are unavailable, people will settle for Scotty, since he’s usually successful in the courtroom.

However, Scotty hasn’t been seen lately, and even police commissioner Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) has been investigating his whereabouts, in between everything else she’s had to deal with. Fans have been worried that Shriner has exited the show, especially after he made a claim in 2023 that he was allegedly fired, which turned out not to be true.

But, Scotty’s not exiting Port Charles anytime soon. Shriner broke his leg and has been all over social media about it, taking some time off to allow himself to fully heal. On August 13, he shared a photo on X, formerly Twitter, of himself standing with his medical “boot” on to protect his foot, with the following caption:

Counting days till out of boot and back to my favorite pastime @Vespa_Official and acting !!!!!!

So, now that we know he’s not only ready to act again, but also ride his moped, he’s sure to return to the canvas soon!

What Happened to Scott Baldwin on General Hospital?

Beloved TV child star Johnny Whitaker originated the role of Scotty on General Hospital in 1965. Fast-forward four actors later to 1977, and Kin Shriner nabbed the part. Over the years, Scotty has been up to all kinds of shenanigans, especially when it comes to money. He’s not above taking bribes, blackmailing people, and even working with unsavory characters just to get what he wants. Scott Baldwin has also manipulated things so that he can win his court cases, such as the time he caused Bill Eckert (Anthony Geary) to become dizzy at a custody hearing with the use of carbon disulfide.

He’s also been at odds with mafia don Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) ever since his eldest daughter Karen Wexler (Cari Shayne) had become an underaged stripper for the mobster. Scotty was married to Laura Collins (Genie Francis) in 1979. But he lost her when Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) stole her away from him, and he and Luke had a bitter rivalry ever after, until Luke’s supposed death in 2022. His on-again, off-again relationship with Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) has been going on for decades, and when the two are together, hilarity often ensues.

It turned out that Scotty had fathered a child with his longtime friend, Heather Webber (Alley Mills): Franco. The character of Franco was initially played by movie star James Franco and was later recast with soap veteran Roger Howarth. Franco was a serial killer who was eventually exonerated when it turned out a brain tumor had caused his murderous ways.

Sadly, three of Scotty’s five children died: Franco, Karen, and Logan (Josh Duhon). But his daughter Serena (Carly Schroeder) and adopted daughter Christina (Kaitlyn Maggio) are still alive, out in the world somewhere.

Scotty recently realized that another serial killer, Heather, only started murdering people after she was poisoned by her hip replacement—similar to Franco's situation. His feeling is that they’ll sue the company that manufactured the replacement for a ton of money, as well as freeing her from prison because she wasn’t in the right state of mind when she committed the murders. He was also planning on helping former mobster Ava Jerome (Maura West) out of her legal issues, but before he can do any of those things, he’s got to be found!
