The character of Dante remains in a coma. Some fans predict that Dante will die in what occurred as an unexpected story twist; others still hope that he will triumph against all the odds.

Since Dante is a beloved part of the show, he may return to General Hospital soon. Looking at his record, he also left the show, only to return in November 2018 and later in March 2019.

The makers likely decided to keep him in a coma to create more suspense and drama, as Dante is the only one who knows Jason did not shoot him. Waking him up too early would not cause tension when Jason's allies are revealed.

No, Sonny Corinthos( Maurice Benard) does not shoot Dante in GH. Though he plays the role of the manic-depressive mob kingpin living in Port Charles and has been involved in numerous conflicts and confrontations throughout the series, he also fathers Dante.

It was Valentin Cassadine who wanted Sonny Corinthos dead and was the mastermind behind the plot of hiring a gunman along with Jason to take a shot at Sonny. But as Dante intervened, he fell victim to the almost perfectly planned assassination attempt.

The bullet was indeed meant for Sonny, as it is revealed that there is a hole in his shirt’s sleeves after the first shot was heard; the bullet missed him and pierced through the fabric instead.
