The secret on General Hospital is out. Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) admitted to Michael Corinthos (temporarily played by Robert Adamson) that he kissed Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen). He had no choice because he ended up in a bar fight with a drunk Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), who blurted out that Drew had been kissing Willow while also sleeping with her mother, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

Drew’s run for Congress is now in trouble as the news is going to spread like wildfire, but there’s one thing he should have been doing all along that would help him win.

An ace up his sleeve

Even until recently, every time Willow talks all starry-eyed about Drew, she mentions that he saved her life. She’s referring to the fact that when she had leukemia, she needed a bone marrow transplant, and Dr. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) was a perfect match. However, Obrecht had been kidnapped by the villainous Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) when he enacted his diabolical plan to unleash a pathogen that would kill 80% of the world’s human population.

Fortunately, a group of heroes from Port Charles led by Laura Collins (Genie Francis) thwarted Victor’s scheme, Obrecht was rescued, and Willow’s life was saved by the transplant. Drew was part of that team.

So, to say that Drew saved her life is technically true, but it was a group effort, and not just Willow but the entire human civilization was saved. That is an ace up his sleeve that Drew should use in his political campaign. Everyone in Port Charles seems to have forgotten the fact that they were inches away from death, and it was a team that saved them all.

When the secret about him and Willow kissing gets out to the general public, coupled with him sleeping with her mom, it’s going to be the death knell of his political career. While the news media will be all over this scandal like ants on sugar cubes, all he has to do is get up to the podium and say:

Yep. That was me. I helped save the world

Drew should tell the story of what happened, and all will be forgiven. Sure, his opponent will still keep dredging up Drew’s dirty laundry, but say it with us:

He saved the world!

That should supersede anything else and would probably make him a shoo-in. However, he’s completely gone against his morals by doing what he’s doing with Willow and Nina, and he needs to reassess his moral compass to be the honest politician he claims he’ll be. To that end, his part in saving the world would have a huge impact on the everyman who’s looking for an idealist to vote for.
