Michael went to see Sonny at his home. Michael apologized for disturbing Sonny, but Sonny said he was happy to see Michael. Michael told Sonny that he was there for comfort because he was struggling to get through the day and A.J.'s funeral, which Michael asked Sonny to attend as Michael's support. Sonny said that he did not think he should attend, even for Michael, because of how upset it would make Monica.
Michael understood. He told Sonny how much he loved him and that even though he had begun to accept that A.J. was also his father, A.J. had never replaced Sonny. Michael said that he would not go back and change his childhood or have anyone else for a father except Sonny. Sonny had tears in his eyes as he told Michael how much he loved him.
Michael left, and A.J. returned to continue taunting Sonny about how he had broken his word to Michael and what a poor father Sonny had turned out to be. A.J. accused Sonny of being too cowardly to attend the funeral and using Monica as an excuse.
Sonny reached for more booze but stopped and thought about his promise to Michael that he would not hurt A.J. He then recalled shooting A.J. as well as Michael telling him what a great father Sonny had been. Tears welled up in Sonny's eyes as he stood thinking about what had happened.
Spencer confronted Luke at the Quartermaines' and demanded to know why Luke was planning to hurt his Uncle Sonny. Luke tried to evade the question, but Spencer persisted and repeated almost verbatim the conversation that he had overheard between Luke and Julian in the stables. Luke was stunned.
Luke tried to get Spencer on his side, but Spencer said that he loved his Uncle Sonny. Luke changed tactics and threatened to hurt Spencer, but Spencer scoffed that his father was a prince. Finally Luke got Spencer's attention when Luke threatened to hurt Emma if Spencer revealed Luke's intentions to Sonny. Spencer was finally big-eyed and speechless when Sonny entered the room.
At the Port Charles police station, Carlos used Diane's phone to speak with Ava, while Diane was occupied with Dante and Franco in the squad room. Carlos told Ava that he would have to implicate her because the police had found his DNA at the Quartermaines'. Ava threatened his life, but Carlos said that he was safe inside the station.
Ava replied that Sabrina and her baby were not. Ava told Carlos that if he wanted to keep Sabrina and her baby safe, he had better keep his mouth shut. Before Carlos could reply, Dante walked in and snatched the phone away and returned it to Diane. Ava hung up and made another call to a person that she told to write down the name, "Sabrina Santiago."
Diane tried to help Franco out of his jam, but Franco declined. He pleaded poverty, but Diane suspected that there was some other reason. Diane tried, but Franco steadfastly refused her services. She left him to see Carlos, who also told her that he would take his chances and plead the fifth. Diane was stunned that neither man wanted to take advantage of her courtroom skills. Dante was equally amazed as he handcuffed Franco and said that Franco and Carlos would soon be occupying adjoining cells. Franco was smiling.
Patrick was surprised to see Sabrina at his front door and equally surprised that Emma had invited Sabrina to her recital without telling Patrick. Sabrina apologized, but Patrick said that there was no need because he would have happily agreed to invite Sabrina if Emma had asked. Patrick said that he still had not told Emma about the baby because things had been so confused when Robin had left. Patrick said that he wanted to tell Emma soon.
Emma arrived home from school in time to hear him and asked what he meant. Patrick asked why Emma had not told him about the invitation to Sabrina. Emma said that she had been afraid that Patrick would be mad. Patrick apologized again for his behavior and told Emma that he was happy that she had invited Sabrina.
Patrick sat Emma down with Sabrina and showed her the sonogram. Patrick and Sabrina explained that even though it seemed confusing, Patrick was the father of Sabrina's baby. When Patrick asked if Emma was okay with a new brother, Emma said, "No."
Ric raced over to Wyndemere in time to see Nikolas help a one-armed Elizabeth zip her dress. Ric could not understand why Elizabeth had moved to Wyndemere, and he told her it was a bad idea. Nikolas bristled. Elizabeth told Ric that it was temporary to give her help managing the boys until she recovered. Ric offered to let Elizabeth and the boys move in with him. Nikolas bristled again. He and Ric were about to get into it, but Elizabeth intervened and told Ric that she would be staying at Wyndemere.
Nikolas was ready to show Ric out, but when Elizabeth asked for a private word with Ric, Ric preened. Ric's jealousy showed when he noted that Elizabeth and Nikolas seemed very cozy. Elizabeth said that her only reason for staying at Wyndemere was convenience, and if Ric wanted to read more into it, he could. She added that Ric had made his motives clear. Ric said, "Good."
Elizabeth told Ric that she had made up her mind, and it would be helpful if Ric would stay away and not cause trouble. Ric grudgingly agreed and left Wyndemere. Nikolas found Elizabeth and told her that Spencer had been reported missing.

At the Drake residence, Emma was not happy about the news that Sabrina was having a baby boy and that Patrick was the father. Concerned, Patrick and Sabrina tried to find out what was troubling Emma. Emma confessed that she was afraid that the same thing that had happened with Britt and Ben would happen with Sabrina's baby and that Emma would find out at the last minute that the baby wasn't her brother. Patrick and Sabrina smiled as they assured Emma that Patrick was the father and that the baby was Emma's brother.
Eventually, Emma cheered up when she realized that the baby was indeed her brother, so she went to her bedroom to change for the dance recital. Sabrina apologized for confusing Emma by lying to her about the baby's paternity, but Patrick insisted that Carlos was the one who had lied, so the lie had fallen on Carlos' shoulders. He then suggested that it might serve Carlos well if Carlos continued to lie. Confused, Sabrina asked what Patrick had been talking about. Patrick realized that Sabrina hadn't heard the news, so she revealed that she had worked a double shift.
Patrick showed her the newspaper and explained that Carlos had been arrested for breaking into the Quartermaine mansion prior to A.J.'s murder. Sabrina looked at the newspaper and then read the article, but she refused to believe it because Carlos had assured her that he hadn't been involved on the first attempt on A.J.'s life. Patrick was curious when Sabrina and Carlos had talked about A.J.'s murder, so Sabrina told Patrick about the incident when Carlos had shown up with a gash on Carlos' head following the attack on A.J.
Sabrina insisted that Carlos had sworn on her child's life that he hadn't killed A.J., but Patrick was certain that Carlos had lied. Sabrina wondered if she should contact the police with what she knew, so Patrick suggested that it could wait until after Emma's recital. Moments later, Emma emerged from the bedroom wearing a ballerina costume. Emma was excited because Anna, Duke, Mac, Felicia, and Cam would be at the recital. They started to leave, but Emma stopped when the phone rang.
Emma realized that it was Spencer when she saw the phone's caller identification, but Patrick explained that they were running late, so the call would have to wait. Emma agreed and then followed Patrick and Sabrina out of the door.
In a Metro Court hotel suite, Ava was on the phone with a mystery person. She provided the person with Sabrina's name and a description of the young nurse and then gave the person some instructions. Afterwards, Ava ordered the person to keep her apprised of the situation because they couldn't afford any mistakes. "That ought to do the trick," Ava said with a satisfied smile as she ended the call.
Later, Ava called Morgan to check on how Kiki was doing. Morgan explained that there had been problems, but he wasn't at liberty to discuss what had happened. He promised to talk to Ava when he had the chance and then abruptly ended the call. Ava was furious, so she quickly got ready and then left with the intention of going to the Quartermaine mansion.
In the hallway, Carly spotted Ava, and she called out to Ava. Ava was curious if Carly had been skulking in the hallway, so Carly explained that she had been on her way to A.J.'s funeral to support Carly's son, Michael. Ava claimed that she had been headed to the funeral for Kiki, but Carly thought that it was odd Ava would attend the funeral of a man who hadn't been related to either Kiki or Ava, especially since Ava's good friend, Carlos, had been arrested for making an attempt on A.J.'s life hours before A.J. had been murdered.
Ava pointed out that they both knew that Sonny had shot A.J., but Carly quickly added that A.J. had been determined to implicate Ava in the shooting by stating that Sonny had shot A.J. because of Ava. Ava insisted that Sonny had been justified in killing A.J. because A.J. had tried to strangle Ava. Ava insisted that if it hadn't been for Sonny then people would have been mourning Ava. "Name five," Carly challenged Ava.
Carly explained that Ava's story hadn't added up because, by Sonny's own admission, A.J. had backed away from Ava and had no longer been a direct threat to Ava. "And yet Sonny still shot him," Ava coolly countered. Carly agreed, but Carly thought that it was curious that A.J. had made a point of implicating Ava on his deathbed. Ava invited Carly to keep digging, but she advised Carly to be prepared for what Carly would find because Sonny could end up in jail for A.J.'s murder. "See what that does to your son," Ava said as she walked away.
At Wyndemere, Nikolas was upset when he entered the parlor because the school had called to report that Spencer had been absent that day. Elizabeth suspected that it might have had something to do with Emma and told him about Cam's recent disappearance when Ric had found her son outside of Kelly's. Nikolas couldn't understand why the driver, Ross, hadn't called to explain why Spencer hadn't gone to school, so Nikolas and Elizabeth pulled out their cell phones and began to make phone calls to track down Spencer.
Eventually, Nikolas reached Ross, who explained to Nikolas that Spencer was at the Quartermaine mansion. Nikolas was infuriated that Ross had neglected to take Spencer to school and then reminded Ross that Nikolas, not Spencer, signed the checks. After Nikolas ended the call with a promise to collect Spencer personally, Elizabeth reminded Nikolas that she was headed to the Quartermaine mansion for A.J.'s funeral. Nikolas offered to take her and then expressed his frustration that Spencer couldn't let go of the idea that Luke was after Sonny, which Nikolas likened to the chupacabra story. Elizabeth pointed out that Spencer hadn't been completely wrong about the chupacabra.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Morgan and Kiki arrived. Kiki felt bad for showing up at the funeral with Morgan as backup, but he insisted that he would not allow Luke to get near Kiki and then vowed to make certain that Luke never put his hands on Kiki again. Kiki insisted that Michael was the one who needed their support and wondered if perhaps she might have overreacted to the situation at the apartment because Luke would unlikely make a pass at her during the funeral. Morgan remained determined to protect Kiki, so Kiki wondered if Ava might object.
Morgan claimed that he and Ava were over, but Kiki was skeptical, especially when Morgan's phone rang and she saw that it was Ava. Morgan stepped away to take the call and then quickly explained that he couldn't talk. Morgan promised to call Ava back as soon as possible and then ended the call.
In the study, Tracy was surprised when she saw Ned reading a book, so she snatched it out of his hand. Ned was curious if his mother had ever read Washington Square, which was a timeless story about a nave heiress who fell prey to a degenerate fortune hunter. Ned thought that Tracy might find the story "illuminating," but Tracy explained that she had seen the movie version, The Heiress. According to Tracy, Montgomery Clift's character had really loved Olivia de Havilland's character -- "and her unibrow" -- but Olivia's character had been too blinded by her past to see it.
Ned revealed that Luke had threatened to kill him, but Tracy dismissed it as harmless hyperbole. Ned assured his mother that Luke had meant it because Ned had vowed to protect Tracy and the Quartermaine fortune from Luke's nefarious ways, but Tracy insisted that Luke loved her, so she refused to take the threat seriously. Ned admitted that he hadn't, either, but he'd had a change of heart and had begun to have concerns about Luke's capacity for violence. Tracy steadfastly believed in Luke and remained determined to marry him, but her smile disappeared when Morgan and Kiki entered the room.
Ned's interest was piqued by his mother's hostile greeting and then a warning for Kiki to stay away from Luke. Tracy ordered Kiki not to make another pass at Tracy's fianc and then stormed out. Ned apologized for his mother's rude behavior and then asked what Tracy had been talking about. Morgan and Kiki quickly filled Ned in on the inappropriate advances that Luke had made toward Kiki and then revealed that Luke had taken it to a more threatening level earlier that morning when Luke had stopped by Kiki's apartment. Ned assured Kiki that he believed her because Luke had a history of forcing himself on women.
Ned revealed that Luke had once raped a woman and then had later married her because Luke had managed to spin the rape into a seduction. Morgan and Kiki were shocked, but Ned explained that it had been a different era and then shifted gears to ask who else knew about Luke's behavior toward Kiki. Kiki admitted that she hadn't told Michael, so only Kiki, Ned, Morgan, and Tracy knew about the incidents. Ned suggested that they not tell anyone else because Ned wanted to set a trap to prove to Tracy that Luke was not who Tracy thought he was.
In the parlor, Luke warned Spencer to keep quiet about Luke's plans for Sonny, or Emma Drake would pay the price. Spencer looked up when Sonny suddenly entered the room and asked what was going on. Luke claimed that Luke and Spencer had been talking about how fleeting life could be. Sonny thought that it was an inappropriate conversation for Luke to have with a child Spencer's age, but Luke argued that Spencer was an unusual and intelligent young man. Spencer surprised Luke by clarifying that Luke had lied; Luke and Spencer had been talking about Sonny.
Sonny assumed that Spencer had complained to Luke because Sonny hadn't returned any of Spencer's phone calls, so Sonny sat Spencer down to ask if everything with Emma was okay. Luke stared Spencer down, silently warning Spencer not to tell Sonny the truth, but Nikolas and Elizabeth suddenly burst into the room before Spencer could reply. Nikolas immediately scolded his son for skipping school and then dragged Spencer home.
After Nikolas and Spencer left, Sonny stepped out of the room and bumped into Ava as Ava arrived for the funeral. Ava was surprised when she saw Sonny, so he explained that he was there for Michael. Ava claimed that she was there for Kiki. Moments later, Elizabeth walked up and greeted Sonny. Sonny offered his condolences to Elizabeth as Ava murmured that A.J. had been too young to die. Elizabeth was glad that Carlos had been arrested and hoped that Carlos confessed to give Michael and Monica the opportunity to pick up the pieces.
In the parlor, Tracy approached Luke to ask if he had threatened to kill Ned. "You bet your sweet ass I did," Luke replied but then quickly added that he hadn't meant it literally. Tracy assured him that Ned had taken the threat seriously, so Luke explained that it had been a knee-jerk reaction to Ned threatening to make Luke regret ripping up the prenuptial agreement. Luke conceded that he might have been a bit more convincing than he had realized, but he promised Tracy that it hadn't been a serious threat.
However, Luke made it clear that he wouldn't allow anyone, including Ned, to ruin Luke and Tracy's happiness. Luke refused to apologize for loving Tracy or for using every weapon in his arsenal to protect their relationship. Tracy smiled and apologized for making a "federal" case out of it, but Ned was her son, so Luke promised not to make similar threats in the future. Satisfied, Tracy invited Luke to join her for the funeral, but Luke promised to catch up with her after he had called Lulu to find out why she hadn't arrived.
After Tracy left, Luke called a mystery person to explain that he was in need of the person's talents because there was a problem that needed solving.
At Wyndemere, Nikolas and Spencer arrived home as Nikolas lectured Spencer about skipping school. Spencer apologized, but Nikolas suspected that his son was only sorry for getting caught. Nikolas insisted that school was essential because they taught children important things, but Spencer argued that Uncle Luke had had it out for Uncle Sonny. Nikolas was tired of hearing about Spencer's "imaginary plot," especially to get out of school.
Moments later, Cam entered looking for his mother because he needed a ride. Nikolas promised to take Cam were Cam needed to go but excused himself when Alexis called Nikolas. Cam was curious why Spencer hadn't been at school, but Spencer refused to explain, so Cam confessed that it had been for the best because Emma had invited Cam to a dance recital. Spencer was shocked, so Cam warned Spencer that Spencer couldn't stop Cam from going. Spencer admitted that he wanted Cam to go because Spencer needed Cam to keep a close eye on Emma.
Spencer insisted that Emma was in danger and that Cam had to remain vigilant. "You're weird," Cam said as Nikolas returned to the room to fetch Cam. Spencer decided that he couldn't trust Cam to protect Emma, so he called "shotgun" with the intention of attending the recital with Cam. Nikolas made it clear that Spencer was grounded and that Spencer would be confined to the castle until Nikolas returned. After Nikolas and Cam left, Spencer called Emma, but the call went to voicemail. Spencer desperately tried to figure out a way to help Emma without disobeying his father.
At the police station, Carlos lay on the cot as he thought about Ava's threat to harm Sabrina and the baby. Moments later, Franco was escorted to a jail cell and then locked up. Franco immediately struck up a conversation with Carlos, but Carlos wasn't interested in talking. Franco was surprised because they were both in jail because of Ava. Franco began to rant about Ava and how she had bilked him out of millions of dollars by not paying him for his artwork and then grumbled that Ava had lied to him about Kiki's paternity for over two decades.
Carlos was curious what any of that had to do with him, so Franco admitted that he knew why Carlos was in jail. Franco warned Carlos that Ava only looked out for herself and that Carlos would remain in jail because it suited Ava's purposes. Franco quietly asked if Ava had put Carlos up to shooting A.J. Carlos seemed on the verge of confiding, but Carly arrived to visit Franco.
Franco pretended to be upset by Carly's visit, so she whispered that she just wanted to know if Franco had made headway with Carlos. Franco assured her that he had been close to garnering information, so he needed Carly to leave. Carly played along with Franco's hostile reaction to seeing her and stormed out yelling that she never wanted to see Franco again. Afterwards, Franco resumed his conversation with Carlos about Ava. Carlos confessed that he couldn't discuss anything because someone's life was at stake.

At Metro Court, Patrick, Sabrina, and Emma arrived for the dance recital. Mac was waiting in the lobby with a camcorder to film Emma while Felicia saved a seat in the crowded ballroom. As Mac filmed Emma getting ready, Sabrina admitted to Patrick that she couldn't believe that Carlos had been involved in A.J.'s shooting. She was certain that there was more to the story, but Patrick gently reminded her that Carlos wasn't a law-abiding citizen. Sabrina realized that Carlos worked for the Jeromes, but she was adamant that he had not shot A.J.
Moments later, Nikolas arrived with Cam. Cam dashed off to find Emma and present her with a bouquet of flowers. Sabrina seized the opportunity to ask Nikolas how Elizabeth was, so he assured Sabrina that Elizabeth was recuperating nicely at Wyndemere, but she hadn't been able to drop off Cameron because Elizabeth had attended A.J.'s memorial. Sabrina felt bad for her friend because she knew that there had been a time when Elizabeth and A.J. had been close. Nikolas pointed out that at least they had arrested the man suspected of murdering A.J., but Sabrina staunchly defended Carlos and then excused herself to check on Emma.
Patrick explained that Nikolas had hit a nerve because Sabrina had history with Carlos. However, Patrick wouldn't mind if Carlos were charged with the crime because Patrick didn't want Carlos near the baby. Nikolas suddenly recalled that Sabrina was pregnant with Patrick's baby, so he wondered if that was part of the reason that Robin had left. Patrick ignored the question as Emma returned to show Patrick the flowers that Cam had given to her.
Meanwhile, Spencer lurked in a corner and waited until everyone had entered the ballroom to take their seats before calling out to Emma. Emma was surprised when she saw Spencer, but Spencer cut to the chase by explaining that he needed to protect Emma from danger. Emma became annoyed because she thought that it was a ploy to lure her away from Cam. She informed Spencer that he had to respect the choice that she had made and then stomped off. Spencer remained concerned because he feared that Luke would make good on the threat against Emma.
After the recital, Emma's loved ones met in the lobby to congratulate Emma on her performance. Anna and Duke waited outside with Felicia for Emma, so Mac decided to wrap up the filming. Emma wanted the final shot to be with her bouquet of flowers, so she ran off to fetch them. She became alarmed when she noticed that the flowers were missing, but Spencer stepped out of the shadows to hand the flowers to Emma with an explanation that he had kept them safe for her, even though Cam had bought the flowers, because Spencer knew they were important to Emma.
Spencer promised that he would be the one to save Emma and then ducked out of sight before his father spotted him. Meanwhile, Patrick invited Nikolas and Cam to join them at Kelly's, but Nikolas declined because he had to pick Elizabeth up at the Quartermaine mansion. After Patrick, Sabrina, and Emma left, Nikolas spotted Spencer trying to sneak out of the lobby, so he nabbed his son before Spencer could escape and then vowed to have a long talk with Spencer when they got home.
In the Port Charles jail, Franco continued to work to gain Carlos' trust by reminding Carlos that Franco knew Ava intimately, including how she operated and lied. Franco pointed out that he could be out of jail by the following day, so Franco agreed to help Carlos. However, Franco demanded to know what Carlos was hiding. Carlos explained that he couldn't discuss it because someone's life was at stake. Franco assumed that it was Carlos' life, but Carlos admitted that he wouldn't care if it were his life.
Franco realized that Ava had threatened someone close to Carlos, so Carlos reluctantly confirmed that Ava had vowed to target Sabrina. Franco recalled meeting Sabrina during his stay at the hospital and asked if Carlos was the father of Sabrina's baby. Carlos shook his head, but he begged Franco the help get Sabrina out of town before Ava could strike. Franco agreed, but he wanted to know what Ava was hiding. Carlos confided that he had a lot of information on Ava and then confirmed that Ava had sent Carlos to the Quartermaine mansion to kill A.J.
At the Quartermaine mausoleum, Monica's eyes filled with tears as she looked to the heavens and spoke to her husband, Alan. She explained that she had to bury their son later that day and admitted that she didn't know if she could do it because she felt alone. Tracy quietly walked up to put a comforting arm around Monica and then assure Monica that Monica was not alone because Tracy and Ned would be at Monica's side. Tracy then reminded Monica that A.J. would be joining Tracy's parents, Edward and Lila. "And his father," Monica added as her voice filled with sadness.
Moments later, Michael walked up to let Monica know that the minister had arrived. Tracy left to gather everyone for the service, so Monica hugged her grandson. Michael revealed that Dante and Lulu's son had an ear infection, so his brother would not be able to attend the funeral. Michael then confessed that he had invited Sonny, but Sonny had declined out of respect to Monica.
Monica was relieved that Sonny had had the decency to stay away because Sonny had made A.J.'s life "hell" and had only ever shown her son contempt. Michael appreciated Monica's objections to Sonny and admitted that he had struggled with the stories that he had heard about Sonny and Carly's custody battles with A.J. However, he had been forced to put all of that in the past so he could have a chance to get to know his father. Monica tearfully explained that it was all that A.J. had ever wanted. Michael became choked up as he admitted that A.J.'s death had been difficult, so he had wanted his parents at his side.
In the mansion's library, Ned, Morgan, and Kiki were assembled as Ned explained that he wanted to set a trap for Luke to prove to Tracy that Luke was only interested in marrying Tracy for her money. Morgan was curious what Ned planned to do, so Ned pointed out that Luke had already accused Kiki of being the aggressor, which meant that they needed to make certain that Tracy witnessed Luke being a letch, leech, and a liar. Kiki agreed, but she wondered how Ned intended to accomplish his goal, so Ned revealed that he wanted Kiki to pay Luke a visit in the den.
Morgan immediately objected to dangling Kiki in front of Luke after Luke had nearly raped Kiki earlier that morning, but Ned promised that Kiki would never be in any danger. Kiki was desperate to get Luke out of her hair, so she agreed to do whatever was necessary to put a stop to Luke's "skeevy fondling." Ned, Morgan, and Kiki were plotting when Tracy entered from the patio and promptly figured out what they were up to. Ned changed the subject by asking if the minister had arrived and then offered to go with Tracy to round up everyone for the funeral.
In the foyer, Elizabeth insisted that A.J. had died too soon, but she was relieved that the murderer was in custody. Sonny and Ava nodded as Elizabeth admitted that with any luck, Carlos would make a full confession, so Michael and Monica could begin to pick up the pieces. Carly entered and agreed with Elizabeth and then added that they would all like to know what had happened to A.J.
Ava quickly stepped away to find Kiki, while Carly glared at Sonny and demanded to know what he was doing there. Elizabeth tactfully excused herself to look for Monica. Carly waited until Elizabeth had left to quietly ask Sonny why he was at A.J.'s funeral. Sonny insisted that he was there for Michael and then demanded to know why she had been asking questions as if she hadn't known the truth about A.J.'s death. Carly explained that she wanted to know what Ava's role had been in the whole thing.
Sonny reminded Carly that he had walked in on A.J. strangling Ava and then added that Ava had agreed to keep quiet about what Sonny had done. Carly argued that Ava had only agreed to keep Sonny's secret because it somehow benefited Ava. Sonny growled for Carly to drop it as Tracy walked up and asked what Sonny was doing there. "Just making sure that A.J.'s really in the coffin this time?" Tracy asked. Tracy didn't wait for a response as she informed Carly and Sonny that Michael was at the crypt and that the service was about to begin.
On the patio, outside of the den, Luke spoke to a mystery person on the phone to explain that Luke had a problem that needed solving. Luke confided that Nikolas Cassadine's "brat" had stumbled onto information, but Spencer had an Achilles heel named Emma Drake, so Luke ordered the person to keep an eye on the young girl until further instruction. Luke ended the call and then tensed when he noticed Ava standing in the den. Luke calmly explained that he had been talking to someone about buying a new filly for Tracy and then changed the subject by asking why Ava was there, since he didn't think that Ava and A.J. had been friends.
Ava claimed that she was there for her daughter and then revealed that she had been concerned because something had happened to upset Kiki earlier that morning. Luke played it cool as he asked Ava about the incident and determined that she didn't know about his visit with Kiki. Ava started to leave, but Luke called her back when he noticed the sway of her hips. He turned on the charm and approached Ava to thank her for having excellent taste in art. Luke rested his hand on Ava's shoulder as he admitted that Tracy had loved the painting, but Ava was unimpressed with his attempt at flirtation, so she removed his hand from her shoulder and walked out.
A short time later, Kiki entered the den and admitted that she was glad that she had caught Luke alone because she had wanted to make certain that he had learned his lesson. Luke seemed baffled by what she was talking about, so Kiki suggested that they speak frankly, since it was just the two of them.
Meanwhile, Ned managed to lure his mother to the den's patio doors with a promise that Tracy would get to see the real Luke. Tracy listened as Luke seemed to catch on to Kiki's plan and seized the opportunity to accuse Kiki of having daddy issues and trying to get Luke alone while Michael was burying his father. Luke claimed that he had tried to let Kiki down easy, but it was clear that Kiki couldn't take no for an answer. Luke insisted that he loved Tracy and his place was by Tracy's side.
After Luke left, Tracy turned to Ned with a smile of satisfaction because Luke's words had been vindication. Tracy insisted that Kiki was a gold-digger and tramp, just like Ava, but Ned insisted that Luke had somehow figured out what had been going on. Disgusted, Tracy left. Kiki ran to the patio to demand to know what had happened, but Ned didn't have an answer.
At the mausoleum, Monica tensed when Sonny and Carly walked up. Sonny assured Monica that he didn't mean any disrespect by showing up, but he was there for Michael. Carly suggested that they put aside their differences for the sake of Michael, but Monica didn't respond. Sonny offered to leave, so Monica admitted that Sonny had nerve showing up after everything that Sonny had done to A.J., but Carly repeated that she and Sonny just wanted to be there for their son.
"What about mine?" Monica tearfully asked. Moments later, Morgan walked up and immediately picked up on the tension. Carly explained that Monica was about to throw Sonny and Carly out. Sonny started to walk away, so Michael followed him to apologize to Sonny for putting Sonny through that. Monica decided that if it meant that much to Michael for Sonny to be there then Sonny could stay. Michael thanked his grandmother, but she walked away as Morgan, Sonny, and Carly closed ranks and assured Michael that he could lean on them.
A short time later, the funeral service began. Sonny lingered in the back as A.J.'s loved ones wept and placed flowers on A.J.'s coffin. After the service, Monica thanked Ned for being there. Meanwhile, Tracy made it clear to Ned that she didn't want him to say another word about Luke unless it was to apologize.
Nearby, Michael wondered if Kiki intended to stay for the reception. She assured him that she was there for as long as he needed her, but Michael excused himself when he spotted Sonny. Sonny asked how Michael was holding up, so Michael thanked his father for being there during the service. Sonny revealed that he would skip the reception because it would be too difficult for Monica and then hugged his son.
In the mansion, Ava flipped on the television and then poured herself a drink. She was stunned when she heard a news report that Franco had been arrested and had refused legal representation. Moments later, Carly entered the room, so Ava turned off the television and then confronted Carly about Franco's arrest. Carly claimed that she hadn't mentioned it to Ava earlier because it hadn't been any of Ava's concern. However, Carly couldn't resist taunting Ava that Franco was in jail with Ava's henchman, Carlos.
Carly teasingly wondered what the two jailbirds could possibly be talking about. After Carly left, Ava made a phone call.
In the hallway, Morgan asked Kiki about Luke. She told him about what had transpired with Luke and admitted that she was afraid of Luke. Morgan assured Kiki that she wouldn't have to worry about Luke because Morgan would protect her. Morgan hugged Kiki to comfort her just as Ava exited the library. Kiki was surprised when she saw her mother, prompting Ava to explain that she had stopped by to check on Kiki. Ava appeared hurt as she noted that Kiki had seemed in good hands and then left.
Morgan started to follow Ava to explain things, but Ava ignored him. Morgan returned to Kiki's side to confide that Ava had seemed unusually upset, so he suspected that something else had been troubling Ava.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth entered the den, looking for Michael, but she ran into Luke instead. Luke invited her to have a drink with him and toast to A.J., but she declined the insensitive request. Moments later, Nikolas arrived to take Elizabeth to Wyndemere. As they left, Luke overheard Nikolas tell Elizabeth about Spencer's trip to Emma's dance recital.
After Luke wrapped up a phone call, Tracy entered the room and asked if he had sufficiently recovered from Kiki's latest advances. Luke pretended to be surprised that Tracy had known about it. Tracy confessed that Ned had set out to prove Luke was a scoundrel, so Tracy had been standing on the patio, eavesdropping, as Luke had set Kiki straight. Tracy was pleased that Ned's plan had backfired and had proven that Luke had told the truth.
In the library, Michael thanked Carly for attending the funeral. He confessed that he had told Sonny that Sonny and Carly had been the best parents that Michael could have wanted and that he had meant it, but Michael regretted that he hadn't had more time with A.J. Carly hugged her son.
In the mausoleum, Sonny slowly approached the plaque bearing A.J.'s name. He was startled when A.J. suddenly made an appearance to congratulate Sonny for getting what Sonny had always wanted. A.J. wished Sonny luck living with what Sonny had done to A.J. Rattled, Sonny turned to leave but stopped short when he saw Ava standing in the doorway.
Meanwhile, Patrick, Sabrina, and Emma were in the car, chatting about the dance recital, when Sabrina felt the baby kick. Patrick reached out to feel his son's kick and smiled with pride. Moments later, Patrick's joy turned to confusion and then horror as a car appeared to swerve into their path.

At Wyndemere, Ross greeted Spencer when Spencer entered the parlor. Ross was curious where Spencer's father was, so Spencer revealed that Nikolas, Elizabeth, and Cam were having dessert in the kitchen, but Spencer was grounded because of Ross's "big mouth." Spencer couldn't believe that Ross had ratted Spencer out, but Ross couldn't believe that Spencer had made Ross drive around on a wild goose chase instead of going to school. Spencer insisted that he had been trying to protect Uncle Sonny from Uncle Luke, but all Spencer had managed to accomplish was to endanger Emma.
Later, Cam entered the parlor with a plate of cookies. He offered Spencer a cookie but quickly snatched the plate away when Spencer reached for one with a reminder that Spencer was grounded. Spencer and Cam began to bicker about Emma as Spencer insisted that Emma was in real danger. Cam suspected that it was a desperate ploy to lure Emma away from Cam, but Spencer promised that the threat was real and that Uncle Luke was out of control. Cam wanted to know what was going on, but Spencer explained that he couldn't discuss it because of the danger to Emma.
Spencer was suddenly struck by inspiration when he realized that he could warn Uncle Sonny without tipping off Uncle Luke. Spencer asked to use Cam's cell phone, but Cam refused. Nikolas had taken Spencer's phone away, so Spencer begged and then offered to give Cam whatever Cam wanted. Cam decided that he wanted to take Emma out for a fancy romantic dinner, so Spencer reluctantly agreed to make reservations at Metro Court Restaurant. Spencer was surprised when Cam opted to take Emma to Kelly's instead because Emma loved the BLTs.
Spencer handed over the money as Cam talked about his dinner plans with Emma. After Cam had the money, he gave Spencer the cell phone and then walked away. Spencer quickly typed up a text message to Sonny, explaining everything that Spencer had heard Luke say in the stables.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Morgan and Kiki were surprised that Ava had left so quickly. Morgan realized that Ava had gotten the wrong impression when Ava had seen him hugging Kiki, but he was frustrated that Ava had left because they could have easily cleared things up by revealing to Ava what Luke had been doing. Moments later, Kiki tensed when she spotted Luke enter the foyer.
Luke greeted Kiki by referring to her as a "little temptress," but Morgan was disgusted by Luke's attitude. Luke reminded Morgan that they were at a funeral, so he advised Morgan to restrain himself and show some respect for the dead. "Seriously? What is your deal?" Morgan asked Luke. Morgan conceded that Luke had fooled Tracy, but both Morgan and Kiki knew the truth about Luke's harassment of Kiki. Morgan accused Luke of almost attacking Kiki at her father's place earlier that day, but Luke countered by claiming that "freaky Kiki" was a lying and conniving "little slut."
Michael and Carly entered the foyer before Morgan had a chance to reply, but Carly immediately picked up on the tension and asked what had been going on. Luke claimed that he, Morgan, and Kiki had been talking about A.J. and what a tremendous loss A.J.'s death had been to the family. Carly was surprised by Luke's remarks because she'd had no idea that Luke had had warm feelings toward A.J. Luke smiled as he pointed out that in wake of the tragedy, the past had been "blood under the bridge."
Luke conceded that he and A.J. had had their share of problems, but Luke had always admired the way that A.J. had always been able to turn things around because it had been a sign of courage. Carly eyes rounded with surprise, but Luke continued to express his condolences to Michael and invited Michael to ask Luke if Michael needed anything because they were family. "Oh, my God, stop!" Morgan shouted as he reached his breaking point.
Morgan insisted that everything that Luke had said had been "the biggest load of crap" that Morgan had ever heard. Luke smiled as Michael and Carly objected to Morgan's outburst. Kiki quietly implored Morgan to drop it as Carly ordered Morgan to apologize to Luke, so Morgan offered Luke an insincere apology and then blamed it on the stressful day. Luke pretended to graciously accept the apology and then left.
Carly immediately demanded to know what had really been going on between Morgan and Luke, but Morgan decided to keep Kiki's secret by downplaying the incident and asking his mother to drop it. Carly reluctantly agreed and then became distracted when she received a text message. Michael quickly assured Carly that she was free to leave if she needed to. Carly refused, but Michael promised her that he would be fine because he had Monica and Tracy to help him get through the rest of the day. Carly assured Michael that she loved him and then left.
Michael invited Morgan and Kiki to go home, too, but both refused. Michael insisted until Morgan reluctantly agreed. However, Kiki refused to leave Michael's side, so Michael thanked Kiki and then excused himself to check on his grandmother. Morgan wasn't comfortable leaving Kiki with Luke hovering nearby, but Kiki assured Morgan that it would be okay because Michael would be with her. Kiki walked Morgan to the door but was surprised when she saw that her mother's car was still parked on the grounds.
Concerned, Morgan decided to look for Ava, so Kiki returned to the foyer just as Michael walked up and announced that Monica was resting. Kiki was curious how Michael had been holding up. He admitted that he felt numb, prompting Kiki to offer to fetch him something to eat. Michael declined because the only thing he wanted was to find out if the police had gotten a confession from Carlos.
In the Quartermaine mausoleum, Sonny demanded to know what Ava was doing there. He informed her that Kiki was at the house, so Ava's eyes welled up with tears as she confessed that she had found Kiki, but Kiki had been too busy being comforted by Morgan. Sonny suggested that perhaps Morgan had been consoling Kiki, so Ava conceded that it was possible, but Ava had fled the mansion "like a teenager" before Morgan and Kiki could explain.
Ava realized that it was pathetic of her to be jealous of her own daughter, but Sonny thought that it was proof that Ava genuinely loved Morgan. Ava assured Sonny that she did love Morgan and that Morgan loved her, but Ava knew that sometimes love wasn't enough. She straightened her back and then apologized for dumping her problems on Sonny when he had his own issues to contend with. Sonny assured Ava that it was okay because it had taken his mind off of his own burdens.
Ava imagined that Sonny had had a difficult time watching Michael grieve for A.J., so Sonny wondered if she had assumed that because Sonny had been the one to put A.J. in the coffin. Ava tactfully shifted gears by asking how Michael had been holding up, so Sonny admitted that A.J.'s death had hit Michael hard. Ava reminded Sonny that the shooting had been justified and then added that all they could do was put it behind them and move on with their lives. Ava hoped that A.J.'s haunting would stop with A.J. laid to rest, but Sonny doubted that A.J. would ever leave Sonny alone.
Sonny told Ava about the recent vision of A.J. when A.J. had wished Sonny luck, living with the knowledge of what Sonny had done to A.J. Ava urged Sonny to stop torturing himself because they had all done terrible things -- including Ava -- and they had each found a way to live with their secrets. Ava promised that Sonny would, too, but Sonny disagreed because he saw A.J. whenever Sonny looked at Michael. Ava feared that Sonny would be tempted to confess to the police, but Sonny explained that he wanted to tell Michael the truth.
Ava warned Sonny not to say anything to Michael because Sonny would lose Michael, and it wouldn't be fair to Michael to be left fatherless. Sonny cried that the guilt was eating away at him and then added that Ava had no idea what it felt like. Ava admitted that Sonny was wrong because he hadn't cornered the market on misdeeds. She confessed that she had done worse than Sonny, which had forced her to walk the earth with an unfathomable weight on her shoulders, but she had managed to remain standing.
Sonny was curious what Ava had done, but she would only reveal that she had done hateful and unforgiveable things that she thought about constantly. Ava explained that she and Sonny were trapped, but they had to find a way to live with their burdens. Ava conceded that she often wondered what it would be like to be free of the secrets that she carried because she would give anything for a moment of relief.
Sonny and Ava's grief and regret quickly flared into passion as the two suddenly kissed. After several minutes, Ava breathlessly asked what she and Sonny were doing, but he refused to think about it and resumed kissing her. The two then began to tear each other's clothes off as things heated up.
In the den, Luke called Julian to check on how everything was going. Luke explained that he was stuck at the funeral, but Luke wanted to make certain that the drugs continued to move because the drugs were the key to putting Sonny out of business.
In the squad room, Anna raved to Nathan about Emma's performance at the dance recital. Nathan smiled when Anna confessed that her granddaughter had been the best ballerina. Moments later, Anna announced that she was headed to lockup to find out if Carlos was ready to talk.
After Anna left, Nathan seized the opportunity to call Britt, but the call went to voicemail. Nathan left Britt a message explaining that he needed to talk to her. He promised that he wasn't stalking her or trying to sleep with her, but he assured her that it was an important matter, so he asked her to return his call. After Nathan ended the call, a police officer asked Nathan where Anna was because they had received a 9-1-1 call reporting that Anna's granddaughter had been involved in a car accident.
In lockup, Carlos admitted to Franco that Ava had sent Carlos to the Quartermaine mansion to kill A.J. Franco was curious why Ava had wanted A.J. dead, but Anna arrived before Carlos could reply. Anna approached Carlos' jail cell to ask him if he was ready to talk. Carlos made it clear that he had nothing to say, so Anna threatened to charge him with A.J.'s murder. Carlos called her bluff and pointed out that the police didn't have enough evidence to prove that Carlos had murdered A.J.
Anna pointed out that A.J. had made it clear that the intruder had been out to kill A.J., but Carlos argued that A.J.'s claim had been nothing more than hearsay from a dead man. Anna countered that it was logical to conclude that Carlos had followed A.J. to Ava's place when Carlos' first attempt to kill A.J. had failed. She was confident that the district attorney, Scott Baldwin, wouldn't have a problem proving that to a jury. Moments later, Nathan arrived to break the news to Anna that Patrick, Emma, and Sabrina had been involved in a car accident.
Carlos was stunned and demanded to know how Sabrina was, but Nathan and Anna ignored Carlos as they quickly left. Carlos was certain that Ava had been responsible for the accident because Ava had figured out that Carlos had been talking to Franco. Carlos accused Franco of being cahoots with Ava, but Franco denied it and offered to strip to prove that he wasn't wearing a wire. Carlos decided that it wasn't necessary because he believed Franco. Franco tried to find out what Carlos had been about to reveal before Anna had arrived, but Carlos called out for a guard.
Eventually a guard walked up to find out what the commotion was about. Carlos demanded to make a phone call to his attorney, but the guard made it clear that Carlos wasn't in a "sorority house." Carlos informed the guard that Diane Miller represented Carlos, so Carlos threatened to sue if Carlos wasn't permitted to make the call. The guard relented and then led Carlos away.
Moments later, Carly rounded the corner and asked Franco why Carlos had been upset. Franco revealed that Carlos had confirmed that Ava had sent Carlos to the Quartermaine mansion to kill A.J. Carly smiled with delight because she had been right to suspect that there had been more to Ava's involvement in A.J.'s murder than Sonny had realized. However, she was curious why Ava had wanted A.J. dead. Franco admitted that he didn't know because Carlos had been about to share the information when Carlos had gotten word that Ava had put the "kibosh" on Carlos' pregnant girlfriend.
In the squad room, Carlos tried to find out what he could about the accident and Sabrina's condition, but no one had any answers. A police officer warned Carlos that Carlos would only have two minutes to make a call and then handed the phone to Carlos. Carlos immediately called Ava, but reached her voicemail. He left a message accusing Ava of causing Sabrina's accident.
On the side of the road, Patrick, Sabrina, and Emma were all unconscious in the car as sparks from a downed power line lit up the area. Patrick was the first to regain consciousness, so he checked on Sabrina and then Emma. Patrick was relieved when Emma slowly opened her eyes and then assured Patrick that she was unharmed. Patrick quickly called 9-1-1 and then turned his focus on Sabrina.
After several minutes, Sabrina opened her eyes, but groaned in pain. Emma was frightened, but Patrick assured his daughter that help was on the way. Afterwards, Patrick got out of the car to run to Sabrina's side of the car to better assess her injuries. Sabrina suddenly cried out in pain as a contraction hit. Patrick ordered Emma to remain in the car and then carried Sabrina to a nearby clearing.
Moments later, a car pulled off to the side of the road, and the driver got out. It was Britt. Patrick was stunned when he saw Britt, but he pushed that aside to ask for her help. Britt quickly examined Sabrina and determined that Sabrina was in labor. Sabrina became upset because she knew that it was far too soon for her son to be born.
Meanwhile, Anna and Nathan arrived on the scene. Patrick ran to Anna to ask her to take care of Emma and find out where the paramedics were because Sabrina desperately needed help. Anna assured him that the paramedics would arrive shortly. After Patrick returned to Sabrina's side, Emma asked Anna if Sabrina would be okay. Anna appeared concerned when she heard Sabrina cry out in pain but promised Emma that everything would be okay.
Nearby, Sabrina became distraught when Britt revealed that they couldn't wait to deliver the baby, so Britt and Patrick promised Sabrina that they wouldn't let anything happen to the baby. Britt was relieved when the paramedics arrived, but revealed that they couldn't move Sabrina because Sabrina was 25 weeks pregnant, and the baby was crowning.
Meanwhile, Anna was stunned when a news reporter with a camera crew arrived on the scene and asked Anna for a statement about the accident. Anna briefly answered a few questions and then stepped away to get an update from Nathan about the evidence that he had collected. Nathan revealed that the skid marks from the tires indicated that a driver had drifted into Patrick's lane and that Patrick had swerved to avoid a collision, so the other driver had been at fault. Emma revealed that Britt had arrived at the scene shortly after the accident.
At Wyndemere, Spencer was about to send his text message to Sonny when he saw the newsbreak about Patrick's accident. Spencer quickly deleted the text message and then called Luke. Luke had been watching the news report about Patrick's car accident, so he smiled with satisfaction when Spencer vowed to keep his lips sealed if Luke promised not to hurt Emma again.

Ava and Sonny's passions ignited, and they made love in the Quartermaine crypt as phone calls from Morgan and Carlos went unnoticed on Ava's phone. Still panting, both Ava and Sonny instantly regretted their quick coupling. Each promised not to divulge their brief fling. Sonny vowed he loved Olivia, and Ava vowed the same about Morgan. Ava hurriedly redressed when she heard Morgan outside, shouting her name.
Morgan burst through the doors and recognized immediately that Sonny and Ava had just had sex together. Morgan was irate. Ava tried to deny it, but when Morgan asked Sonny for the truth and to respect that Morgan was Sonny's son, Sonny admitted the truth. Morgan went ballistic at their betrayal.
Ava tried to explain, but Morgan scoffed at Ava's protestations of love and stormed out. Ava wanted to follow, but Sonny said that Morgan was like Sonny and would be seeking a target for his anger. Sonny was not in the mood to talk, either, so Ava left. Outside the crypt, she checked her voicemail and found a message from Carlos. Sonny did not see his voicemail from Olivia.
Britt and Patrick successfully delivered Sabrina's baby by the side of the road. Paramedics loaded Patrick, Sabrina, and the baby into the ambulance and left the scene. Nathan reported to Anna that another car had swerved into Patrick's lane and had left the scene. Emma told Anna how quickly Britt had arrived after the accident. Anna advised Nathan and told him to question Britt. A patrolman reported that the ambulance had left, and Anna told Emma that Sabrina and the baby were safe.
Olivia was thoughtfully remembering a happier time with Sonny when she noticed Duke as he waited for Anna in the lobby of the Metro Court. Olivia sat with Duke, and they discussed the communication difficulties that they were both having in their relationships. Duke said that even though there were topics that he and Anna did not discuss, they loved each other and tried to work through them.
When Anna did not arrive, Duke left to find out what had delayed her. Olivia made a phone call to Sonny. She told him that she loved him and that they could work things out. Shortly after she hung up, a distraught Morgan arrived. As Morgan was about to tell Olivia everything, Sonny entered the lobby.
At General Hospital, Epiphany tried to cheer up Felix, who was still smarting after his relationship with Brad had ended badly. Felix was surprised when Epiphany told him that he could do better. Lucy joined them and tried to coax Epiphany and Felix into performing in the upcoming Nurses Ball. They were laughing when Sabrina was rolled in on a gurney. Felix went with Sabrina, and Epiphany rushed Patrick and the baby to the infant care unit. She assured him that his son would live.
Sabrina opened her eyes and saw Felix. She immediately asked about her son. Felix reassured her. Epiphany entered the treatment bay, looking grim. In the hallway, Lucy collapsed against the wall and remembered the devastating loss of her own child. Lucy tearfully prayed for the lives of both Sabrina and her baby.
Carly visited Franco in his cell at the Port Charles police station. He told her that he had learned that Ava had put Carlos up to shooting A.J. and had threatened Sabrina if Carlos talked. Carly wanted to tell Anna immediately, but Franco stopped her. After a little bickering, Franco made Carly realize that she could get him released by dropping the charges, and then they could talk to Anna together about what Franco had learned from Carlos.
Chained to a desk in the police station, Carlos phoned Ava and threatened her life if anything happened to Sabrina or her baby. Carlos also phoned Sabrina, but his call went unanswered on her cell phone, which had been left at the scene of the accident. Anna entered the station with Emma, who was taken to Anna's office by a patrolman. Anna asked Carlos why he was out of his cell. Carlos begged for news of Sabrina, and Anna told him that Sabrina's baby had been born prematurely, and both Sabrina and the baby were hospitalized. She sent Carlos back to his cell.
At the crime scene, Britt was incredulous when Nathan questioned her about the accident. She assured him that she had not seen the accident but had arrived moments afterward and had stopped to help. Britt said that she had not even known that it had been Patrick's vehicle. When Nathan had no more questions, Britt frostily excused herself to give information about Sabrina's condition. Nathan searched the area and found Sabrina's phone.
Duke found Anna at the station, and she told him what she knew. Duke left to check on Emma. Carly and Franco emerged from the cells. Carly said that the hotel had dropped the charges. Anna told Franco that he was free to go, but Carly said that they had information that might help Anna's case. Carlos was not surprised when Ava entered the cell area in response to his message. He asked how Ava could do what she had done to him and how Ava could have done it to Sabrina. Ava smiled enigmatically.
