General Hospital's Molly and Kristina are becoming just like their dads

On General Hospital, tensions are high as Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) has been arrested for the murder of FBI agent John “Jagger” Cates (Adam J. Harrington). Of course, it was really Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) who gunned Cates down on the September 13 episode, but his ex-wife Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) is providing his alibi. On that same date, Sonny and Alexis’ daughter, Kristina (Kate Mansi), went to her dad’s apartment and took one of his guns, intending to kill Cates for using her as a weapon against Sonny.

Ultimately, she didn’t do it and instead went to the grave of her baby that she renamed Adela after Molly named the child Irene. When Kristina returned home later, Alexis found the gun in Kristina’s purse and dumped it in a river in Blackstone Canyon. Of course, Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) saw Alexis do this and notified the police. Ric’s daughter with Alexis, Molly (Kristen Vaganos), figured things out and concluded that her sister was the one who killed Cates.

Molly has been angry with Kristina ever since the pregnant Kristina fell out of Ava Jerome’s (Maura West) hotel room window. The baby died from injuries sustained in the fall shortly after emergency surgery to try to save the baby—and it was a baby that Kristina was carrying as a surrogate for Molly. Molly, not wanting her mother to go to jail for a crime she didn’t commit, told the police that Kristina had no alibi for the night of Cates’s murder. Kristina had been called in to the Port Charles police station for questioning after that, and she immediately deduced that Molly was the one who had ratted her out. She ran to Molly’s office to confront her about it, and their argument was a lot like the way Sonny and Ric interact.

They’re more like their fathers

While generally a friendly guy, Ric has been known to be a jerk to people who treated him badly, but he has a soft spot for Molly. Some fans feel him telling the police about Alexis and the gun was a slimy thing to do, even though he is an officer of the court and was obligated to do so. Similarly, some fans think Molly telling the police that Kristina has no alibi was also an underhanded move. The emotional Molly has been throwing a lot of blame in Kristina’s direction.

Ric has a strained relationship with his brother Sonny because he feels that, as kids, when their mother was pregnant with him, Sonny purposely shoved her down some stairs. He was also jealous of the brotherly relationship Sonny had with Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), and he also lays the blame for many things at Sonny's feet. Now, Molly is exhibiting some of the same antagonistic feelings toward Kristina.

Kristina is also a lot like her own father. After seeing him beat up Dex Heller (Evan Hofer), she was at first shocked at the reality that Sonny’s a gangster. But when the altercation with Ava caused her to miscarry, she wanted Sonny to kill Ava. Later, by taking her dad’s gun with the intent of killing Cates, she also proved that she’s her father’s daughter. Will Kristina one day step into her father's shoes if he retires? Neither Molly nor Kristina is hearing the other, and GH might be writing Kristina's behaviors a bit like Sonny's and Molly's a bit like Ric's.

It’s easy to see how the sisters are more and more like their fathers every day, which makes for some great character development as the next generation moves to the top of the ladder.
