General Hospital's Dante-Cody-Brook Lynn retcon confuses befuddled fans

General Hospital appears to be changing story canon again now that we have learned that Brook Lynn was at camp with Cody and Dante when the two men became friends as teens.

That is news to GH fans considering that Brook Lynn did not seem to know Cody when he first arrived in Port Charles. Their camp encounters have never been spoken of before, so fans were left scratching their heads when the three characters mentioned their teenage past while discussing Lulu's awakening while in the Q stables.

X (formerly Twitter) user @paula_30throad had questions the moment camp was mentioned.

"Brook Lynn went to camp with Cody and Dante … is this the first time we are hearing about this?" she asked.

@canadianfuzzy had an answer to this question on Blue Sky. The GH came with receipts and dug up a clip of the first time Brook Lynn and Cody met when he parachuted into the Metro Court pool in 2022. They did not recognize one another at all but acted as if they had known each other for years on the December 4, 2024 episode.

"I went back and found this clip of BLQ and Cody introducing themselves in June 2022," they wrote. "It's possible they just didn't recognize each other since they were teens the last time they saw each other. Plus, BLQ used to use the last name Ashton."

@ghwubs felt that Cody and Brook Lynn still should have shown some recognition at that first pool meeting.

"Ughh I'm struggling with this-- (amongst MANY things) because NO .. if you met as teens or even tweens, you'd remember," she wrote. "Period. The name Brook Lynn is memorable and no way would they not know."

X user @sparlychalynn wasn't buying it at all.

"Brook Lynn hang out with Cody and Dante when she was a teenager?" she wrote. "That is a serious retcon."

When Cody was first introduced to the Port Charles scene, we learned that he and Dante shared a secret from their camp days, but after more than two years, that secret has never been revealed. Now fans think they know what it is.

It's become more clear than ever that Brook Lynn had a child as a teen and that child might be Quartermaine house guest Gio. Now, we have two baby daddy contenders. Sadly, fans are not amused by this re-write of history just to give Brook Lynn an adult child.

"And they’re definitely doing Gio is Brook Lynn’s," Blue Sky user @dinkologist wrote. "Is Cody his Dad or Dante? What an unnecessary story."

With all that Dante is going through right now, some fans want to see him catch a break, not another case of long-lost fatherhood. That makes Cody the favored baby daddy in viewers' eyes.

"Wait did we know BLQ went to camp with Dante and Cody?" @Nic101188 asked on X. "Dear Lord please let Gio be Cody's and not Dante's."

@unseenatnoontoday echoed that sentiment on Blue Sky. "Omg if Cody saves Dante from being the father of 🎻 then Cody is truly the #GH mvp character this year,"

Like many other fans, @TexasKimmie is frustrated by GH re-writing history lately, pointing out that Sasha as Robert and Holly's daughter also makes little sense.

"We have had too many unnecessarily bad retcons, especially Sasha & Cody but now it looks like they might be doing another one to make Brooklynn & Dante parents to Gio?" she tweeted. "RIDICULOUS. Not every new character needs to be related to a Port Charles family."
