Sasha arrived at Wyndemere on a mission. "I just need you to convince me to my face that you're not going to screw over my friends," Sasha told Sidwell. "I give you my solemn oath," Sidwell responded. She still wasn't sold and said the deal would be off if he couldn't convince her.
"Wouldn't you miss your payday?" Sidwell asked. "You must be mistaking me with my mother. There are limits to what I'd do for money," she replied. Sidwell reasoned that he was doing Deception a favor by giving them a good price in a competitive market.
Sasha still gave Sidwell another warning before leaving. "The moment I suspect that you're up to something shady? Let's just say that I know someone who could keep you in line," she said. Sidwell did not seem impressed.
In the Q solarium, Lucy made the case to make a deal with Sidwell to buy his zincide. Brook Lynn and Tracy pointed out how Sidwell had kidnapped Sasha, but Maxie spoke up and told them that Sasha felt she had overreacted to that incident. Tracy still didn't want to go for this plan.
"I'm not going along with this just because our cook said her bomb-happy kidnapper is misunderstood. I don't trust him," Tracy declared. Lucy continued to argue for using Sidwell, noting that Erica Kane might beat them to releasing Enchantment's newest miracle cream.
The ladies finally put the matter to a vote. Natalia chose to abstain, Maxie was a yes, and Brook Lynn was a tentative yes. The only holdout was Tracy, who also abstained. "That way, I can't be held responsible for the consequences," Tracy said. The ladies were ready to head to Spoon Island to give Sidwell the news, except for Tracy. She was off to "attend to my civic duty."
When the ladies arrived, Sidwell already had champagne waiting for them to celebrate the deal. However, Brook Lynn still had questions. She wanted to know why Sidwell wanted to do business with them when he'd had other offers. Sidwell explained that he preferred living in Port Charles than Pine Valley or Llanview, so he wanted to do business with a PC-based company.
Maxie had to leave for an appointment before the deal was done, but Sidwell managed to sell Brook Lynn when he told them he had taken the initiative and expedited their first order and covered the cost. That sealed the deal for Brook Lynn, but Natalia remained suspicious.
After Lucy and Brook Lynn left, Natalia stayed behind and gave Sidwell a warning. "You think the deal is done, but they're not gonna sign when they know what I know," she said. Natalia was sure that Deception was the perfect cover for Sidwell to smuggle illegal goods into the United States.
Natalia was willing to tell them everything, including the fact that Sidwell was her ex-husband. "It's a little late for that, isn't it? Why should they ever trust you when yiu've left out such a pertinent piece of information?" he asked. Sidwell then got in Natalia's face. "You will never be in a position to tell me what to do again — not after the spectacular way you ripped our family," he shouted. Just then, there was a knock on the door. Sidwell opened it to find Sonny standing there.
Earlier, Laura and Sonny met for lunch at the Port Charles Grille. Councilman Boyle quickly appeared behind them. "My, my, my, isn't this cozy? The elected mayor of Port Charles and the real mayor who runs the show behind the scenes," he said. He accused Laura of having "the appearance of impropriety."
"That's why we're having lunch in a private place. I have nothing to hide," Laura countered. When Boyle walked away, Laura told Sonny that Boyle was a jerk. "But he's not wrong," Sonny said. He was aware that Laura was putting her reputation on the line just by being seen with him.
Laura argued that they had a long history as friends and she didn't want to lose that. It's not like Laura was in business with him or would ever stop the police from investigating him."I'm not going to hide the fact that we're friends just because I'm mayor," she said.
Laura changed the subject and asked Sonny if he'd seen Ric. "I avoid my brother whenever possible," Sonny said. Laura immediately realized that Sonny didn't know about Ric. Laura told him about the accident, but all Sonny could ask was, "How's Elizabeth?"
Laura gave Sonny the rundown on Liz, but switched back to Ric. "He hasn't woken up yet, just in case you were wondering," Laura mentioned. "I hope for his daughter's sake Ric pulls through," Sonny said. Just then, Carly and Jack got off the elevator, laughing away. Sonny immediately looked annoyed.
Jack and Carly's time alone at their table didn't last long. Jack received a text and approached Sonny, asking if they could talk alone. The two men stepped aside, and Jack informed Sonny that a hitman named Selitzki had been found dead in his Toronto apartment. Sonny played dumb and pretended to know nothing about it. Jack gave Sonny more information, namely that Selitzki had done a lot of work in Africa.
Jason sat with Lucas at GH and told him that Carly was unhappy with him because he'd told her what to do with her life. Lucas admitted he had done the same, but Jason wanted him to try again. Lucas didn't think that was a good idea because it would push Carly further into Jack's arms.
Jason was convinced that Jack had an ulterior motive in pursuing Carly, but Lucas thought Jack and Carly genuinely liked and cared for one another. Lucas also pointed out that Carly believed she was used to danger, considering she was married to Sonny and has been BFFs with Jason for decades.
"Carly said she doesn't think she's in any danger because she's not committed to Brennan, so in her mind not committed means totally safe," Lucas explained. Lucas still felt that Jack truly cared for Carly. "Anyone who saw him fight for her life the way he did would know that the two are very invested in each other...Nothing we can say will change her mind," Lucas added.
Anna confronted Assistant District Attorney Turner outside the courtroom, where Emma would soon be arraigned. She accused the ADA of going after Emma because she had a problem with Anna. Turner felt that Emma's prior arrests should concern Anna.
Turner informed Anna that Emma was part of a group that protested a university lab. Everyone in the group was arrested, but neither Anna nor Turner knew the exact charges. The records were sealed, leading Anna to suspect the university did not want the story to get out.
In the courtroom, Gio questioned Emma about her prior arrests but she didn't want to talk about them. "Why didn't you tell me about your record? I would have chained myself to the crypt instead," Gio reasoned. He said he was the one who lived with the Quartermaines, so it would have made more sense.
"I have already been arrested. Everyone already thinks I'm trouble, so yeah, it had to be me," Emma argued.
Emma was pleased to see Tracy and Sasha arrive to support her. When the hearing began, Turner requested that Emma be held without bail. Thankfully, the judge didn't go for that idea. Later, Anna begged Emma to tell her what had happened in California. "I can't tell anybody. They made me sign an NDA. It was either that or I'd go to jail," Emma admitted.
At her office, Diane sat on the phone with Alexis and told her to stay with Molly at GH because she would be handling an upcoming interview. When she hung up, the interviewee arrived. It was Marco Rios, the man whom Lucas met in the Miami hotel bar.
Marco told Diane he wanted to switch from corporate law to defense law and thought Diane and Alexis' practice was the best fit for him now. Diane was impressed with the clients he could bring along, including a new Port Charles company called JS Associates.
Diane wanted Marco to join the firm, but he needed to meet with Alexis first. Before Marco left, he spotted a pic of Lucas and Sam on Alexis' desk and asked who it was. Diane told him that was Alexis' late daughter, Sam, and Sam's brother, Lucas. Later, Marco left and met with Lucas at the Metro Court bar.
Once Marco was gone, Jason arrived at Diane's office to discuss Sasha. "I need to amend my will to provide for Sasha's baby," he said. Diane just wanted to know why Jason went along with pretending to be the father of Sasha's child. "To protect Michael," he said. Diane understood and agreed to end his will.
Diane was surprised to hear that Jason hadn't told Carly the truth. "I considered telling Carly, but now that she's with Brennan, I think I'm going to hold off," Jason admitted.
