Lucy arrived at Wyndemere to see Sidwell and talk about the Nurses' Ball. In fact, she had an entire presentation prepared, going back to the first ball in 1994. Lucy also couldn't wait to talk about all her many Nurses' Ball gowns. "I'm sure you look divine in them," Sidwell said. "Well, actually, out of them," Lucy remarked, referring to how many times she'd ended up in her underwear by the end of the ball.

Lucy kept mentioning that the ball was a fundraiser, so Sidwell finally asked what it was a fundraiser for. "For research and care in the fight against HIV and AIDS," she said. Lucy noted how in 2025, it might not seem as pressing in the U.S., but globally it still was."You have to remember, in 1994, we were in the height of the AIDS crisis, and we didn't see much hope for a cure," she added.

Lucy told Sidwell all about Stone and Robin. Stone performed at the first ball but had died by the third. However, Robin, who was also HIV positive, was still alive and well. Lucy's emotional words convinced Sidwell to "solely underwrite the entire Nurses' Ball."

Sonny approached Laura as she watched the GH nurses' hub from the platform above. They talked about the big day ahead and how Sonny always shows up when it counts. They expected a big turnout to celebrate the opening of the Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Center.

Soon, Tracy walked off the elevator with bad news. Monica wasn't well enough to make the dedication. "She has that respiratory issue, and she's really not supposed to be around a lot of people," Tracy explained. "She's the heart and soul of this place, and when you think about it, she's the one who brought this hospital into the 21st century," Laura said.

Tracy asked if Lesley, Monica's old enemy, would agree. "I know my mother and Monica had their moments, but my mother held Monica in very high regard professionally," Laura replied.

Anna was also there for her regular phlebotomy. Mac approached her as she hung up with Robin. They were both ready for the new cardiac care center and the hospital celebration. "General Hospital looks pretty good for her age," Anna observed.

Anna and Sonny later had a chat about Robin and her speech at the third Nurses' Ball soon after she was first diagnosed. "It was so beautiful and brave," Sonny said. Anna thanked Sonny for being there for Robin during that difficult time in her life.

In the break room, Maxie presented Dionne and Amy with Deception gift bags to thank the nurses for all they do. She was happy to give them to Felicia and Stella as well.

Stella soon found Tracy by the wall looking at her past family members whose final resting place she just saved. Stella knew she would find Tracy there because she "spends a lot of time in places you can honor your loved ones." Tracy lamented that Monica wouldn't be there for the dedication, but Stella reminded her that she could record or stream it so Monica would feel like she was there.

Curtis and Alexis stood in the hospital hall, discussing the AA meeting they'd just attended. Curtis pointed out that there were meetings closer to her house, but Alexis admitted she liked the hospital and how familiar it felt.

After Alexis had walked away, Laura approached Curtis. Laura was pleased that Aurora would have a reporter at GH covering the event. Curtis brought up the mysterious benefactor who made the center possible. Laura mentioned that the person might be someone who had a contentious relationship with Monica but also very much respected her. "Maybe that someone is the business partner of someone Monica loves a lot," Laura said.

"Sounds like this mystery donor is someone who isn't a mystery to you," Curtis remarked, causing Laura to chuckle. Laura informed Curtis that Monica knew who the donor was and was glad the person had chosen to leave their name off the center so it wasn't tied to Monica's name forever.

Curtis advised Laura that she might want to follow suit. "Being attached to the wrong people can often hurt as much as it can sometimes help," he said. Later, Curtis apologized if he was overstepping his bounds.

At the memorial wall, Alexis mentioned to Sonny that she knew he was the anonymous donor, which Laura had hinted to with Curtis. She said she happened to see the paperwork for it on Diane's desk. After Sonny left, Laura appeared. She and Alexis spoke of Sam's sacrifice that helped Lulu live. Laura couldn't be more grateful, but Alexis didn't blame Laura or Lulu at all for Sam's death.

Tracy later returned to the wall with Ned where they spoke of Tracy's love for Alan. "So much of what exists here at GH was because of my brother and my sister-in-law's shared legacy," Tracy said. "You're absolutely right. Alan and Monica got us here today. In fact, when we go home, we should go upstairs and tell Monica that," Ned suggested.

Felicia approached Carly and Donna after Donna's checkup. Donna asked to go say hello to Grandma Bobbie's photo on the memorial wall, so Felicia joined them. "I was born in this hospital," Donna declared. Felicia informed the little girl that the hospital was born that very day 62 years ago. At the wall, Donna gave her grandmother's photo a kiss as Carly explained how General Hospital was like Bobbie's second home.

"Your grandma was my best friend and I think about her and the example she set every time I come to work," Felicia told Donna.

Terry walked into Portia's office to tell her that everything was ready to go. However, she couldn't find Amy, who was supposed to be helping. When they checked the new atrium before the dedication ceremony, the co-chiefs reflected on their predecessor and all she had done for the hospital over the years. "All we can do is try to make Monica proud," Portia said.

Finally, the ceremony began as the two co-chiefs made the dedication. "Monica is this hospital. She was the ultimate example of what a chief of staff should be," Terry said. Portia continued: "She is forever our guiding light. Our constant reminder to keep going."

Mayor Laura soon took her spot at the podium. "I am truly honored to be here to celebrate Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Care Center and also to commemorate 62 amazing years of General Hospital," she said, adding, "I think General Hospital is a place where you can start out as a mere candy striper and wind up the mayor of the town."

Just after the center was officially dedicated, Lucy arrived with Sidwell and announced he would be funding the Nurses Ball. Laura, Alexis, and Anna immediately frowned with suspicious looks on their faces.
