Chase met up with Dante and Rocco over burgers and congratulated Dante on his engagement to Sam. Chase was thrilled for his friend and offered Brook Lynn's expertise to help Sam make wedding plans. Chase was surprised Dante wanted to get married, but Dante explained why he proposed. "I woke up one day and decided I wanted Sam to be my wife," he said happily.
Jason and Alexis waited in the hospital waiting area for news about Sam. Alexis reasoned that if Sam were having any sort of allergic reaction, at least she was in the right place. Alexis was determined to stay positive until they saw Elizabeth, Portia, and Lucas approach them.
Portia immediately told Alexis how sorry they were as Alexis and Jason's faces turned white. "Sam didn't make it," Portia finally said, but Jason had questions.
"When you say Sam didn't make it--" Jason started. Lucas cut him off and bluntly stated, "Sam's dead." Poor Alexis was in denial and kept repeating no. After all, she had just been with Sam, and Sam was just fine. Alexis could only insist that Sam just wanted to go home while Elizabeth looked at Jason to make sure he didn't fall apart.

"You're wrong because I am her mother. I am her mother and I would know if she was gone. I would feel it if she was gone," Alexis cried before walking away. Jason just stood there in utter shock and disbelief.
After Lucas and Portia were gone, Jason looked at Elizabeth in agony and asked what happened. Elizabeth explained that Sam experienced a cardiac arrest, but they didn't know what caused it. Jason finally remembered he was supposed to meet Danny and Scout at Bobbie's. "How am I supposed to tell them that their mom's gone?" he asked.
Liz advised Jason just to be honest and keep things simple. She told Jason it was okay if he didn't have all the answers to their questions.
Alexis walked into Sam's room and saw her lifeless body lying in the bed. She kissed Sam and noticed how cold she was. When Portia arrived, Alexis begged the doctor to bring Sam a blanket because she had just had surgery. Portia went to get a blanket as Alexis stumbled around the room, reasoning with herself. When Portia brought the blanket, Alexis asked to talk to her daughter.
Portia left Alexis alone as Alexis placed the blanket over Sam and crawled into bed with her. She laid her body over her cold daughter and told her, "That's all you need. There, there."
Alexis told Sam about the day she arrived in the world. "When you were born, you had a lot of hair. And the other babies didn't have any, but you had beautiful hair," she said. "I didn't get to have you for long, but I got to look into your big, brown, soulful eyes and kept thinking, 'What could I have done to get such a miracle?' I was so lucky because the universe gave you to me twice. And now they're going to take you back. They can't just take a miracle back. Bring her back, please, please," Alexis cried.
Alexis soon got out of the bed and started yelling at God, saying He should have taken her. "Parents are not supposed to bury their children, especially when they're so good. The only reason she was in here is because she was helping someone else. My child was saving another mother's daughter, and for that, you took MINE?!? I HATE YOU!!!" Alexis screamed.
Alexis finally calmed down and returned to Sam's side in tears. She told Sam how she'd hoped her daughter would find her one day. Alexis feared that if she left the room, Sam would be gone. "I can't live in a world without you in it, without you here," she said in tears.
A composed Alexis finally left Sam's room and found Jason and Elizabeth. Jason assured her he would tell Danny and Scout about their mom, and Alexis would tell Kristina and Molly. Jason asked Alexis if it was okay with her if he said goodbye to Sam. After Jason walked away, Alexis broke down in Elizabeth's arms. Later, Alexis angrily told Elizabeth she wanted to see Portia and get answers about what happened to her daughter.
Portia told Alexis that they had no definitive answers regarding what happened to Sam. "Then, by all means, investigate because I want answers, but in the end, it won't even matter because my daughter is dead," Alexis said just as a stunned Dante and Rocco got off the escalator.
Jason could barely catch his breath when he walked into Sam's room and saw her still body looking white as a ghost. He stood at the door and couldn't even turn around. "I knew you were gone when I saw your mother's face. I knew when Lucas said it. I heard him. But it wasn't real," Jason said. He walked over to the bed and finally looked down. "It wasn't real until now. But you're not here. You left us."
Jason sat by Sam's side and told her he never made long-term plans, but he believed in long-term plans for her. "I figured you would outlive me. You were supposed to watch Danny grow up and have kids. I just assumed that you would live a long life," Jason said in tears. He added, "Whenever I would look at you, really look at you, I would smile. I just love that when I look at Danny I see so much of you looking back at me."
Jason continued talking to Sam about their life together and how they couldn't stand each other when they first met. "There are just a lot of things I should have told you. So many things, so many moments that I could only share with you," Jason said.
Through a series of flashbacks, we watched Jason and Sam's love story. "I remember it all. I will never forget. I promise. Goodbye," Jason said in tears as he kissed Sam's cold forehead.
Michael and Sasha prepared to leave their Metro Court love nest, with Michael still insisting that Drew was to blame for everything. Sasha didn't think Drew was responsible for what she and Michael just did. Michael conceded that Drew didn't make them drink and have sex, but he felt Drew's actions drove him to take solace at the Brown Dog.
Sasha told Michael she ended up at the bar because she was hurt by someone she loved, and it changed her life. Sasha and Michael both agreed that nobody had to know they'd slept together.
At the gatehouse, Willow told Drew she didn't think she should keep any more secrets from Michael, but Drew tried to talk her out of it. He didn't think Michael needed to know about the second kiss since Ned and Tracy didn't know about it.
"If you tell Michael about the second kiss, that's just going to play into Ned's hands," Drew said. Willow countered that she didn't care what Ned or the Quartermaines did. She just didn't want any more secrets in her marriage. "I'm not saying that you lie. I'm just saying that you don't volunteer more information that's going to hurt Michael more," Drew insisted.
Willow said she didn't want to lie by omission, but Drew wouldn't let up. "Why cause Michael more pain over something we both agree is over and done?" Drew asked.
When Michael returned home, Willow told him how sorry she was and how much she missed him. She admitted that she would have told him the truth, but Drew beat her to it. Willow told Michael that she and Drew had just gotten caught up in the moment on the Fourth of July. When Michael asked Willow if she had anything else to tell him, Willow took Drew's advice and lied. "It was just one isolated incident," Willow said.
Willow begged for Michael's forgiveness. Michael thought about it and told Willow they could get past this incident. He didn't mention he'd just slept with Sasha right before having sex with Willow on the couch.
Drew made his way to the stables, where he ordered Cody to "stand down and stop causing damage." Cody just laughed in Drew's face, saying, "Me causing damage? No, no, no, that's all on you, buddy."
Drew thought they could just talk between men and work things out, but Cody didn't think so. "I can see you for who you are," Cody said. Drew tried convincing Cody to keep quiet for Willow's sake, but Cody didn't buy it and thought he was using Willow's feelings to save himself. "It seems you get away with whatever you want as long as you hide behind Willow," Cody added.
As expected, Drew offered to pay Cody to keep his mouth shut. Cody thought about it and asked for $100K to keep quiet, but Drew made a counteroffer and said he'd give him $50K. Cody took the deal.
