General Hospital recap for Thursday, January 2, 2025: Isaiah saves Sonny's life...for now

Sonny lay at the bottom of the boxing ring unable to reach his phone and call for help. Eventually, Isaiah came along and asked Sonny to take some deep breaths. Sonny admitted that he was lightheaded as Isaiah called 911.

When the paramedics arrived, they tended to Sonny and brought his heart rate back to normal. Isaiah told Sonny that he needed to be admitted to the hospital for observation, but Sonny refused. "With all due respect, that's not gonna happen," he said.

Isaiah asked if Sonny had experienced these pains before. Sonny swore him to secrecy before he would say another word. He couldn't appear weak to his business rivals. Sonny admitted he'd had pain prior to his workout. Isaiah was surprised to hear that Sonny was shot in the chest 20 years ago, leading his heart to stop.

Sonny was not happy to learn he needed to see a cardiologist because this would likely become an ongoing thing. "If you ignore this, you will have a heart attack or stroke very soon...You've got a ticking time bomb in your chest," Isaiah said matter-of-factly.

As Valentin argued with Dante and Lulu, someone set up a gun on a roof across from the cafe and took aim. Before any shots rang out, Dante assured Valentin he wasn't there as a cop. He was only in Prague to support Lulu. When a bullet suddenly soared through the cafe's window, Valentin grabbed Charlotte and ran.

Lulu informed Dante that she had put a tracker in Charlotte's bag, so they took off after her. Sadly, they found the tracker in a plant outside, telling them Valentin knew where to look and found it. Lulu wanted to run aimlessly through Prague to find them, but Dante stopped her.

They went back to the cafe and spoke to the police. Lulu was still reeling from what had happened. "This was everything I was trying to avoid. Valentin getting shot by God knows who and Charlotte right in the line of fire," Lulu said.

Sasha met with Michael in his office so they could have a private talk. Michael told her that he believed he and Willow would divorce and he needed her help. Sasha was surprised to hear that Willow had filed for legal separation so quickly. Sasha was also shocked to hear that Willow would listen to Nina.

Michael explained that during the custody fight, he might have to go public with Willow and Drew's affair. Sasha knew that Michael wanted to ensure that she kept quiet about their own drunken one-night stand.

Michael told Sasha about divorce from the child's point of view and didn't want his kids going through the same thing he did watching Carly and Sonny battle it out. He wanted things to go as smoothly as possible. Sasha then shocked Michael when she told him that she was leaving town. "You just found out that you have this big, beautiful family in the Scorpios. I don't want you to leave that all behind because of me," Michael said.

Sasha assured Michael that's not why she was leaving. "I don't have a choice, Michael. I'm pregnant," Sasha told a shocked Michael. He wondered why she was so hesitant to tell him the news. Michael wanted to help Sasha as much as he could, but Sasha was hesitant. "I knew that if I told you that you would want to be a father to this child, but I don't want you involved," Sasha said.

Michael was confused after Sasha assured him that he was a good father. Why wouldn't he want her in their baby's life? "Raising a child as a Quartermaine and a Corinthos would have way too many complications...I really don't want my child exposed to that kind of danger," Sasha explained.

Michael didn't like the idea of pretending he wasn't her baby's father but was willing to respect Sasha's wishes.

Willow was both pleased and surprised when Drew dropped by the hospital to see her at work. Her shift had just ended, so she was free to talk. Willow admitted that Lucas' Christmas Eve words hurt her, but she didn't want to dwell on them. Drew was looking toward the future. "I suddenly see all these possibilities that I could never have dreamed of before," he said.

It was almost time for Drew to head to DC since Port Charles skipped New Year's Eve, and the 118th Congress was ready to be sworn in. Willow and Drew couldn't stop fawning over each other, with Willow telling Drew that he would do great things as a congressman and Drew telling Willow he could pick her voice out of a crowded football stadium.

Drew credited Willow with him winning the election and invited her to attend his swearing-in ceremony. Willow had to turn him down, noting how public the event would be. "Do you want a scandal before you even enter office?" Willow logically asked. Somehow, Drew managed to talk Willow into it.

Ava knocked on Alexis' office door until she finally let her in. Ava explained that she was aware that Alexis was the new trustee of the Cassadine fortune, and she would like the divorce settlement portion of the fortune back. "I'm not asking for a gift here, Alexis. That money is mine," Ava pointed out.

All Alexis could do was laugh in Ava's face. "It gives me more pleasure than it should to tell you that the Cassadine estate doesn't owe you a dime," Alexis said with glee. Ava wasn't ready to give up, so she took off her coat and geared up for a fight. She argued that her marriage to Nikolas wasn't easy, so she was entitled to that divorce cash.

Alexis explained that Ava didn't really marry a rich man. All the money belonged to Spencer, and now all the money belonged to Ace. Ava could appeal with Ace, but she would have to wait until he was 21. Ava accused Alexis of loving the whole situation. "I must say that it's the only perk in a job I never asked for," Alexis admitted.

Alexis insisted that the law stated Ava was not entitled to the money, but Ava didn't believe her. "Alexis, with all your flaws, you're not stupid. You could figure out a way to help me if you really wanted to," she said. Alexis refused to listen to another word and told Ava to leave.

Anna paid a visit to Brennan in his Metro Court room. She wanted to talk about Valentin being in Prague. Brennan still claimed he had no idea that's where Valentin was, but Anna didn't buy it. Soon, Collette called and told Brennan that Valentin had managed to escape the cafe with Charlotte.

After Brennan hung up, Anna tased him and he dropped to the floor. Anna explained that she needed his full attention for what she was about to say. Emma had come to her with the news that she'd met a man with an Australian accent who said he knew Anna from the WSB. "That was the first and the last time you will ever speak to Emma Scorpio-Drake," Anna demanded.

Anna didn't care when Brennan explained that he ran into Emma by coincidence. "Emma is off limits," she declared.
