Chase let his frustrations out on a bag at the boxing gym as he remembered all his conversations with Brook Lynn about starting a family.
After his workout, Chase sat pensively on a bench until Dante found him. Dante asked if Chase had spoken to Anna and then broke the news that Sam had been murdered. Chase's ears perked up as soon as he heard. Dante explained how hospital murder victims were given an overdose of a drug they shouldn't have had. Chase deduced that Dex was also one of the victims.
Dante poured out his complicated feelings regarding Sam and Lulu. He hated seeing Lulu take so many risks when Sam had given her a second chance. "I'm happy that Rocco's mother is here. It's a gift, but Sam gave her that gift, and now she's gone because of it," Dante stated. Chase reminded him that Sam was gone because someone had taken her life.
Logically, Dante knew that. "I just feel like every time I look at Lulu, I'm going to think of Sam and what she and all of us have lost," Dante lamented.

In her bedroom, Brook Lynn continued lamenting to Lois about Chase's test results. She was heartbroken seeing the devastated look on her husband's face when he gave her the news. "I know it's not the same, but I know what he's feeling. That pain and anguish. I felt both of those things when I gave my baby up. I want him to know that so that Chase doesn't feel so alone."
Lois once again brought up the idea of IVF, but Brook Lynn was still thinking about her first baby and wanted to tell Chase. "But if I tell him the truth, I have to tell him the whole truth, right? Not just that I have a child out there, but that Dante's the father," she said.
Brook Lynn couldn't imagine how Chase would feel if he knew she'd had a child with his best friend. She also knew she couldn't ask Dante to keep the truth from Chase. She also worried how Dante would feel if he knew he was robbed of raising his own child. Finally, Brook Lynn decided she needed to be honest with Chase.
Outside the Quartermaine boathouse, Cody watched as Sasha put Jason's hand on her belly to feel the baby move. Cody walked away before he could hear Sasha say, "Michael has agreed to let me raise this baby. My life, my child," she said.
Jason wanted to hear Michael's side of the story. Sasha was incredulous that Jason thought she might be lying about what Michael wanted. "I'm not trying to offend you. I just find it hard to believe that Michael would walk away from his child," Jason said. Jason insisted he had to talk to Michael, so an exasperated Sasha told him to do just that.
Cody returned to the stables where Molly was waiting to hand him his paperwork from his latest jail release. Cody was not in a pleasant mood, which Molly quickly noticed. She asked him what his problem was, so he blew up and rambled about all the criminals in Port Charles who never paid. Meanwhile, he was scrutinized over every wrong move.
Molly was a bit taken aback by his outburst and assured Cody that she was just there to bring him his papers and try to be nice. In response, Cody accused Molly of having an agenda. Molly countered that she was just there as a favor to Mac, someone she has always had a lot of respect for. Cody finally thanked Molly for stopping by. "Was that so hard?" Molly asked as she walked out the door.
After Molly left, Cody texted Maxie to tell her that he needed to talk about family stuff. She texted back that he should meet her at the Metro Court.
Maxie sat with Lulu at the Metro Court, discussing the news about Sam. Maxie could barely believe it. "It was already so heartbreaking when we learned that Sam was dead, but to know she was murdered? What about her kids?" Maxie asked.
Maxie wondered how Lulu was handling the news. "You mean that my ex-husband's dead fiance died while saving my life?'' Maxie reminded Lulu that Sam's death was not her fault. Lulu understood that, but there was no denying that Sam was in that hospital room because of her. Maxie advised Lulu to stop feeling guilty over something she had no control over.
"What if there's something I do have control over? I love the man Sam was going to marry. I'm in love with Dante. I never stopped," Lulu said.
Maxie remembered Lulu telling her that she still loved Dante the night of the explosion that caused her coma. "Four years passed for the rest of us. People moved on, but for you, that night was like yesterday. Of course, you still love Dante. It would be weird if you didn't," Maxie said.
The women watched Jason walk into the restaurant and sit down with Diane. Lulu wondered if she should tell him about Sam. Maxie warned her not to.
Across the room, Jason informed Diane that what he was about to tell her needed to stay between them. Diane was shocked when Jason told her that Sasha was pregnant and Michael was the father. Diane immediately assumed Michael had an affair, but Jason corrected her. It was just a drunken one-night stand. However, Jason felt the need to get Michael's side of the story. As Diane assessed the situation, it occurred to her that Sasha would be giving birth to Robert's grandchild.
Soon, Cody walked in and glared at their table when he spotted Jason. Cody then walked up to Maxie and Lulu's table and told Maxie that Sasha was pregnant. As soon as Cody saw the look on Maxie's face, he deduced that she already knew. Cody said he was more concerned with the "deadbeat dad," who he thought should be helping.
Maxie informed Cody that Sasha didn't plan on telling the father. Cody watched as Jason got on the elevator and told Maxie and Lulu that he was the father of Sasha's baby. "I'm sorry, what?!?!" a confused Maxie asked.
Back at Jason and Diane's table, Diane suggested having Carly talk to Michael since she was already in Germany. A wise Jason didn't want to bring Carly into this and said he would go to Germany himself and get this done. Jason wanted Diane to help Sasha with anything she needed while he was gone.
As soon as Diane saw the look on Alexis' face when Alexis walked into their shared office, she knew something was wrong. "Sam was murdered. Somebody killed my daughter," Alexis said as Diane took her friend into her arms. Diane was horrified as Alexis cried and told her the details of what happened. "She didn't lose her life. Someone just took it, and I am so mad I don't know what to do," she screamed.
Diane wanted to say the right thing, but Alexis reminded her that there was no right thing to say in this situation. Diane suggested they have a girls' night in and forget everything, but Alexis was waiting for Molly and Kristina to get there so she could tell them how their sister really died.
When Molly and Kristina arrived, Alexis sat them down. Her remaining daughters were horrified to learn their sister had been killed.
In Germany, Carly quickly pulled away from Jack's kiss, telling him that she needed a minute. "My apologies if I read out situation incorrectly," Jack said. Carly assured him that he didn't. "I just don't want to get caught up in the adrenaline and then do something I'll regret," Carly explained.
Jack assured Carly that he wasn't there to sleep with her. Instead, he took her to sit outside by a fire and chat. Carly was impressed he had gone to all this trouble. Jack poured her some champagne. However, Carly also asked some pointed questions about Valentin that Jack didn't like.
"Why would you want to talk about the man that tried to kill me tonight," Jack asked. "Because he tried to kill you," Carly quickly answered. Carly reminded Jack that Valentin was such a good friend that he'd called him and warned him people were looking for him.
Jack confessed that Valentin was a good friend, but after what happened earlier, their friendship was over. Valentin had assumed that Jack had ordered the hit in Prague, but Jack assured Carly he had not. Carly wondered why Jack had protected Valentin for so long.
Jack gave Carly a long and winding tale of his relationships with Anna and Valentin that went back to their WSB training together. Jack aligned himself with Valentin due to his ambition. He knew he could rise in the ranks by being friends with the right people. "Valentin was an outsider who needed me as much as I needed him. We became true friends in a world where friends were hard to come by," Jack said.
"That's sweet in a strange, twisted way," Carly mused. Jack replied: "It was. Until that friend tried to kill me."
Jack and Carly talked some more. Carly decided Jack wasn't the bad guy he wanted people to perceive him as. "To me, you're the guy who has done some really awesome things for me time and time again when you've expected nothing in return," Carly assessed. Jack claimed there was something in it for him — being with Carly.
