Lulu dropped by Charlie’s and surprised Kristina. She said she’d been working up the nerve to tell her that she was sorry. “Your sister saved my life at the cost of her own,” Lulu told her. Lulu said she prayed for Sam daily. They talked about how Sam would always help someone if she could. Kristina says that what Sam did for Lulu and Lulu's recovery were two separate things. Lulu said she had a hard time reconciling that as she saw how much everyone had lost.
Lulu didn’t think she could honor Sam properly without knowing how much everyone lost when she died. Lulu asked Kristina to tell her about Sam and Dante’s love story; Kristina was happy to oblige. After hearing it all, Lulu got a message and realized she was late for a meeting and had to run out.
Lucas tended to Sidwell at the hospital, who had found a tick on his arm. Jenz said he would avoid tall grasses, but Spoon Island was full of them. Lucas said he practically grew up at Wyndermere. As Lucas walked Jenz out, he asked if he liked living at Wyndermere. Sidwell said he was working with a local gallerist to update the place. Lucas told him that Ava was his aunt. Jenz squeezed Lucas’ arm as he thanked him and said he had an excellent bedside manner.
Sonny knocked on Ava’s door, insisting they needed to talk. Ric and Ava set a scene as a lawyer meeting and then opened the door. Sonny told them he came to make them an offer about Avery. “Deal with it now, or you lose in court. It’s up to you,” he said.

“I don’t trust you and never will,” Sonny began. Sonny offered to abide by the original agreement of shared custody, but the fighting had to stop immediately. Ric advised that Sonny knew he would lose in court, so he was offering a deal. He told Ava to take Sonny to court and leave him with nothing.
Ava appreciated the offer but wondered what would stop Sonny from trampling all over it again. Ric went off about the firebomb and said that Avery wasn’t safe living with Sonny. “You want to get me on the stand so you can come at me, but the thing is, Ava, Diane is going to come at you,” Sonny barked. He said it’s not about them, it was about Avery. “If you love her the way you say you do, you will act in Avery’s best interest,” Sonny concluded.
Sonny told Ava that Avery asked him why her parents couldn’t be in the same room. He said the battle would get uglier, and the court therapist would keep asking Avery questions, which wasn’t good for her. Ric tried to interrupt, but Ava was listening to Sonny. He offered 60/40, but Ava insisted on 50/50. Sonny agreed and said he’d have Diane write up the paperwork. Ric was furious, but Ava was relieved.
Once alone, Ric couldn’t believe that Ava had taken the deal. He was sure he could’ve done better in court. “Better for whom? Not for Avery. She needs her father,” Ava told him. Ava said before Ric came along, she’d been so focused on hurting Sonny and was ashamed of it, and that Ric was the only one who believed her about Kristina’s fall being an accident. She added that she didn’t want Kristina to have to get on the stand and relive it all. Ric told Ava she was much more generous than people gave her credit for.
Ric wanted to go to his office to prepare for the incoming paperwork. Ava wondered if he really needed to rush off. Ric said it would take Diane a while to get the paperwork together. “However will we pass the time?” Ava wondered. Ric dropped his suitcase, and they began kissing.
Sasha held Mavis and told the dog she didn’t mean for anyone to get hurt. She went into the hospital as Elaine came out with Isaiah. Elaine complained she was in pain and was wearing a neck brace. Sasha assured her that Mavis was safe, but Elaine said she could tell the dog was traumatized. Sasha helped by staying with the dog while Elaine got her prescription and agreed to take care of Mavis while she healed. Elaine stopped Sasha from leaving and said it was time for the two of them to be honest with one another.
Elaine admitted she was a private eye and she had set Sasha up. She warned her to watch her back because someone was looking into her. Sasha thanked her for the heads up. “In my line of work, we don’t make many new friends,” Elaine explained.
Sonny went to the bar and told Kristina that she didn’t have to testify because there would be no trial. Kristina was surprised that he made an agreement with Ava but congratulated him. When Sonny admitted he’d given Ava a 50/50 split, Kristina was taken aback. Sonny understood Kristina’s perspective but said she and Ava had been through too much, and it was settled. “It’s funny, I just never thought I’d see my father take the easy way out,” Kristina told him. Kristina insisted Ava would never be a good role model for Avery. He knew that she didn’t understand but said he hoped that one day, Kristina would figure out why he did it.
Brook Lynn stormed into the office, upset that Lulu wasn’t ready for a meeting, and she was late again. They started the meeting but then Sidwell arrived. Natalia left while Lucy welcomed Jenz and introduced him to the group. “Jenz Sidwell?!” Lucy repeated. “I’m sorry, have we met?” Jenz asked. “No, but I’m pretty sure you know my brother, Lucky Spencer!” Lulu snapped.
Jenz admitted that he did know Lucky but claimed there were two sides to the story. Sidwell decided to opt out of the meeting but said if they found his participation less unpleasant to give him a call. When he left, Lucy ripped into Lulu. Lucy said Jenz was the one person who could save Deception, and she had chased him off. Brook Lynn blasted Lulu for not waiting until after the meeting to bring up her reservations. “Sorry I wasn’t more polite to the guy who tried to kill my brother,” Lulu retorted. Lucy said Lulu had no say, but Maxie claimed she did — and she wanted to know everything about Sidwell before agreeing to take him on. Lucy ran after him to smooth things over.
At the jail, Jason was told that his lawyer was there to see him, but instead of Diane, Alexis walked in. “I lied. I’m not here as your lawyer. I’m here as Sam’s mother,” she declared. “You want Cyrus dead, right? So do I,” Alexis told Jason.
“When I wake up in the morning and remember that my baby is dead, I am filled with so much rage, I can’t go on,” Alexis told Jason. She couldn’t accept that Sam was murdered for saving someone’s life. Alexis believed in the law and the system most of the time, but she didn’t want to risk that Cyrus would be one of those other times. She wanted Cyrus dead, and she wanted to be the one to kill him. She wanted her face to be the last one he saw before he left the earth. “Alexis, you can’t kill Cyrus. It’s not who you are,” Jason said. “No, but it’s who you are,” Alexis told him.
Alexis said she’d understand if Jason thought she was a hypocrite, but she wanted vengeance so bad she could taste it, and if she didn’t have to think of the consequences, she’d hand him the gun. But the only thing that mattered was what Sam would want, and that would be for Danny to heal one day and he wouldn’t be able to do that if Jason killed Cyrus. Alexis said Jason had to leave Cyrus to the police for Dany’s sake. “I understand,” Jason told her. “I know you do,” Alexis affirmed.
Outside the hospital, Lucas saw Isaiah. While they chatted, Lucas mentioned his patient lived at Spoon Island, and Isaiah asked if he meant Sidwell. Isaiah told Lucas that Jenz tried to kill him and Lucky, and he wasn’t a good man.
Stuck on the roof, Cody scolded Molly for being in the position because of some papers. She snapped that it was her sister’s autopsy report that she’d gotten. Cody said he’d say sorry, but they both knew how much she loved his apologies.
Cody wondered what Molly thought she could do that the cops couldn’t. Molly didn’t know either. She said all she’d accomplished by taking the file was risking her job and getting them stuck on a roof. Cody comforted Molly and made her smile. He said she was being too hard on herself.
Molly thanked Cody as they shivered on the roof. He said he would have done the same thing if he were her. They argued again because Molly didn’t appreciate advice from the guy who broke the rules all the time. Cody was freezing and took his pants off to throw them on the ground to get someone’s attention. His jeans dropped in front of Isaiah and Lucas, who looked up and saw Molly and Cody waving for help, so they went up and saved them but laughed at Cody for having no pants.
Natalia was in the parking lot and asked a man near her car if he happened to have a cigarette. He said he didn’t. “I thought you gave up that filthy habit years ago,” Jenz said behind her. Natalia told him she gave up a lot of things that were bad for her back then. “Including me. Seeing how you slipped out of that meeting, I take it you haven’t told your coworkers we were married once upon a time,” Sidwell said.
