General Hospital quick catch-up: Sonny's boxing ring collapse, Valentin's deadly dealings

General Hospital took another two-day break this week to air encore New Year's Eve and New Year's Day episodes. However, it left us with two rare Monday cliffhangers.

Will General Hospital's Sonny survive his apparent heart attack?

Heart attacks are on everyone's minds in Port Charles now after both Dex (Evan Hofer) and Sam (Kelly Monaco) died from cardiac arrest while recovering from routine surgeries. Now, Sonny (Maurice Benard) is down in the boxing ring after experiencing chest pains. He first felt the pain on Christmas Eve but ignored it and went for a shadowboxing workout in his own gym. While in the ring, Sonny collapsed.

On Thursday, someone seems to be watching Sonny on a grainy screen while he lies helpless in the ring. Will someone find Sonny on time, and will this become another artificial heart attack, or is Sonny truly facing his own mortality and refusal to accept he is not as young and strong as he used to be?

Sonny is about to re-evaluate his life, which could lead Port Charles' favorite mobster in a direction we've never seen before — unless you count Smike's adventures in Nixon Falls.

Problems in Prague

Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) was furious when he saw Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) walk into the Prague cafe where he was arguing with Lulu (Alexa Havins) over where Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) should live. He was sure he was set up, or Dante inadvertently led his enemies right to him. He was also not about to let Charlotte go.

On Thursday, someone takes a shot at Valentin, which could change things for both him and Charlotte. Valentin reasoned that Charlotte was safer with him than she was in Port Charles. After all, Anna (Finola Hughes) shot her last year. Valentin knew darn well it was an accident, but he still wanted to make a point to Lulu.

With someone shooting at Valentin, will Charlotte decide that life on the run in a foreign country is not what she wants after all? Perhaps this will be a blessing in disguise for Lulu if Charlotte chooses to come home with her.
