On General Hospital, Kate Mansi’s Kristina has had quite the week. The “I hate Ava” club definitely has its fair share of members. However, Kristina has come to the forefront and has decided to “test” Ava's (Maura West) brake system in her car, or so she thought. What Kristina did do, however, was cause Ric (Rick Hearst) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) to get into an accident. Although fans aren’t too happy with Kristina’s actions, I feel it’s worth noting that Kate has done an awesome job at displaying Kristina’s fragile mental state.

This week saw Mansi’s Kristina do the unthinkable when she cut what she assumed were Ava’s brakes, hoping to cause her to have an accident. Kristina is, of course, still heartbroken over the loss of her baby, whom she was carrying for sister, Molly (Kristen Vaganos), and her then-domestic partner, TJ (Tajh Bellow). Kristina still very much so blames Ava for her falling out of Ava’s apartment window, leading her to lose the baby girl, Irene/Adela, that she was carrying. The loss of a child is an unbearable pain that not many make it through, and while Ava isn’t exactly directly responsible for Kristina’s falling and loss of the baby, she did play her part in the events. However, in Kristina’s mind, Ava is solely responsible for the loss.

General Hospital's Kristina is doing it for the family

Earlier this week, Kristina walked in as Sonny (Maurice Benard) was obviously in distress and in the middle of a medical emergency while Ava just loomed over him, taunting him. While Kristina didn’t see the entire exchange, she picked up on what was going on rather quickly, most likely because she didn’t trust Ava in the first place. Kristina springs into action, although she was visibly upset at seeing her father in such a state. After helping Sonny, however, and going and visiting her unborn child, paired with the fact that Ava basically threatened to use Sonny's health condition to deem him unfit to parent, Kristina decided that she needed to take care of Ava before she hurt anyone else.

Mansi's abilities as an actress shone through in that she was able to completely immerse herself into the character and truly become a heartbroken woman, hellbent on revenge and trying to keep her family afloat in the midst of a common enemy. There is no excuse for Kristina's actions, however, Mansi's performance gets a round of applause for her vulnerability and willingness to truly "go there" as far as acting and letting the viewer into the deep dark crevices of Kristina's mind currently as well as her thought processes and why she's making the decisions that she's making.

So, kudos to you, Ms. Mansi. Let's see where else Kristina's story will go. Although, the story may just be leading to jail time, after this last action on her part.
