Drew Quartermaine has not quite been himself since returning to Port Charles and General Hospital after spending two years in Victor Cassadine's (Charles Shaughnessy) Grecian prison. Sure, he looks different as Cameron Mathison is playing the role rather than the late Billy Miller, but it's more than just his looks.
Drew Quartermaine's General Hospital transformation
When Drew first returned to town, he pined for Sam (Kelly Monaco) for about five minutes but then accepted that she was happy with Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). Fans were left scratching their heads when he became romantically involved with Carly (Laura Wright) after the way Carly treated him before his alleged death.

When Carly believed that Drew was Jason (Steve Burton), she was his very best friend. However, as soon as the real Jason returned, Carly dropped Drew like a hot potato and wouldn't even give him the time of day. After Drew turned out to be the father of Josslyn's (Eden McCoy) boyfriend, Oscar (Garren Stitt), Carly didn't even care. She had Jason and didn't need Drew.
Oddly, Drew also became a corporate raider who was very concerned with his ELQ shares despite never caring about the family business before. He had his own company he seemed to own with Sam reluctantly, but ELQ was not his cup of tea.
Drew seemed like a brand-new character, but we were still willing to give him a chance, even when he became a little shady. His wheeling and dealing with Michael (Chad Duell) to keep Ned (Wally Kurth) out of an ELQ leadership position was definitely smarmy, but we knew a new Drew had emerged during the SEC debacle.
Doing it all for Carly
Carly bought Aurora stock when Drew and Michael let her in on the secret that Aurora was merging with ELQ. When Drew found out, he knew Carly had made a mistake. Not only did Carly lose all her money when the merger never happened, but she also broke the law because she and Drew engaged in insider trading.
Drew and Carly tried to hide their relationship and the truth for months. When they were caught, the only thing they could think about was finding the snitch and not the fact that they committed a crime. Oddly, Drew chose to take the fall for the whole thing rather than let Carly go to jail. He explained that his own daughter, Scout, could be without her father, but Carly's daughter, Donna, couldn't be without her mother. Drew had never been a man who would willfully abandon his child, but now he was.
Creepy Congressman Drew
After Drew's prison stint in which he was beaten to a pulp in the showers, he became more of a stranger than ever. Drew was willing to send Scout away to boarding school, threw himself into corporate raiding, threatened Nina (Cynthia Watros) when he learned she was the SEC snitch, and then began having hate sex with Nina on his office floor whenever possible. Drew even decided to run for Congress when he never had political ambitions.
Then, he became creepy. His obsession with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) gave us all chills, especially as she kept telling him to stay away from her, and he followed her wherever he could. While he seemed to stalk Willow, Drew continued his sexual relationship with Nina while running for Congress. Just before Election Day, he confessed to Michael that he kissed Willow and then paid off Cody (Josh Kelly) to keep all of Drew's sexual secrets to himself.
Watching him have sex with Willow the night he learned Sam died before creepily whispering in her ear from behind the next day made us wonder if this was who Drew had always been.
Always Drew or not Drew?
Remember when Billy Miller played Drew, and all of Drew's memories were implanted in Franco's (Roger Howarth) brain? Maybe NuDrew doesn't even remember that since he mysteriously has all of his pre-Port Charles memories. If you recall, Drew had all of Jason's memories thanks to the WSB's memory mapping program. He didn't remember his life as a Navy SEAL at all. However, he does now despite the viewers being told his memories now live on a flash drive.
At one time, those memories were implanted in Franco Baldwin's brain, and he thought he was Drew. And Franco's Drew? He was seriously creepy, often nasty, and quite a player when he was around his ex-girlfriend, Kim Nero (Tamara Braun). We were surprised to learn that Drew's personality was so unpleasant before his memories were wiped and replaced with his brother's.
That Drew seemed very much like the current Drew. Could this new, not-so-nice Drew be the real Drew we never really knew before he arrived in Port Charles? Is he somehow still under Victor's tarot card mind control? Or, is this man not Drew at all and somehow an imposter Victor planted in that Grecian prison to terrorize the Quartermaines and the citizens of PC forever? We wouldn't put it past him.
