Five General Hospital characters who desperately need a love life

Too many General Hospital characters are going through life lacking love, which just won't do on a soap. The phrase "love in the afternoon" helps define the genre, but some of our favorite Port Charles pals are lonely in the afternoon instead. Here are five GH characters who can use a love life — STAT!

Alexis Davis

Poor Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) hasn't had sex since her drunken one-night stand with Ned (Wally Kurth) back in 2021 that led to his temporary split from Olivia (Lisa LoCicero). Several months prior, she found Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan) dead in her bed after a night of passion, so we can see how Alexis might be a little gun-shy with men. Heck, her last husband, Julian Jerome (William deVry), held a dagger to her neck, helping lead to their divorce.

However, Alexis has been lonely for way too long and needs someone to turn to — a confidante, a lover, someone who can comfort her as she grieves Sam (Kelly Monaco). She also needs someone she can spar with who shares her sardonic sense of humor. Marty (Michael E. Knight) is the perfect character to fill that role, but does that mean Alexis would end up in a triangle with Tracy (Jane Elliot)? Hmmm...

Anna Devane

It took Anna (Finola Hughes) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) six years to finally get together, and less than a year later, GH split this popular pair up for no apparent reason. While it's clear that Anna still has feelings for Valentin and vice versa, his recent behavior and his on-the-run status don't make him an ideal love interest right now.

GH toyed with the idea of pairing Anna with Jason (Steve Burton) and even had them kiss, but the fan horror and outcry seem to have put the kibosh on that "romance" — thank goodness! Will Valentin manage to redeem himself and return to PC for good? If so, Anna might want to give him another try. If not, Anna needs to get on a dating app ASAP.

Sonny Corinthos

We still don't understand what is happening with Sonny (Maurice Benard) and his love life — or lack thereof. His marriage to Nina (Cynthia Watros) ended so abruptly that we had whiplash, with neither party playing out any of the emotional beats. Sonny kissed Ava (Maura West) once but realized that was clearly a mistake and never let it happen again.

Since last spring, GH has teased a pairing with Natalia (Eva LaRue). So far, they have not been a hit with fans who are growing bored by their scenes. Sometimes Natasha is around, and then she disappears for a month or more. Sonny needs someone real in his life, and well, Nina is still available...

Nina Reeves

Nina tried moving on after her sudden divorce from Sonny but made the mistake of sleeping with creepy Drew (Cameron Mathison) and even fell for him. Then, she realized he was a manipulative louse who slept with her daughter and is now obsessed with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen).

Sonny and Nina have some seriously unresolved business. Since 'Sona' fans never got closure, maybe this is a book that GH can re-open and give this pair a new chapter. Nina needs someone, Sonny needs someone...so what has GH got to lose?

Cody Bell

Since arriving on the GH scene in 2022, Cody's (Josh Kelly) love life has been completely lackluster. A flirtation with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) seemed to be getting somewhere but then Britt died as 2023 began. For the next nearly two years, GH built up a slow-burn love story between Cody and Sasha (Sofia Mattsson), but then decided to make the characters cousins. That put an end to Cody and Sasha really fast.

Now, Cody is on a path of self-destruction as he misses Sasha and can't believe she got pregnant with another man's child the night they broke things off. Give Cody a romance that actually goes somewhere. And, if the fans like it (as they liked Sasha and Cody), don't make them cousins. Please.
