Does Carly's polonium poisoning mean Jerry Jacks is returning to General Hospital?

Carly is in dire straits on General Hospital. She was enjoying some champagne in Jack's hotel room when Jack emerged from the shower and oticed something odd with the bottle's label. Thinking quickly, he slapped the glass out of her hand, but it was too late…she had ingested poison and passed out. It was later learned that she had consumed the radioactive element called polonium, which harkens back to a previous story that also involved the isotope.

Does General Hospital's Carly have a some half-life left?

While it was Valentin (Jame Patrick Stuart) who delivered the polonium to Jack’s (Chris McKenna) hotel room, there’s might be only one person who could be behind it: Jerry Jacks (Sebastian Roche). In 2012, not only did the legendary Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) find he was dying from polonium poisoning, but so did the villainous Jerry. He captured Luke and forced Robin Scorpio (Kimberly McCullough) to use Luke as a guinea pig to see if her cure for the poisoning worked. Now, Luke's niece, Carly (Laura Wright) has been poisoned the same way.

However, Tracy (Jane Elliot) tried rescuing Luke and used all of the antidote on her lover. Fortunately for the baddie, Robin realized she could use Luke’s blood to concoct a cure for her captor. Luke and Jerry ultimately survived, but in 2015 Anna (Finola Hughes) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) managed to capture the villain and send him to Steinmauer Prison. In 2019, it was revealed that Jerry escaped, although we never saw him.

Things are going to go nuclear in Port Charles

Considering the bomb used on Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) penthouse was the kind employed exclusively by intelligence agencies, that could rule out quite a few villains including Sidwell (Carlo Rota). But not Jerry. He could easily have gotten his hands on one or more of the devices and somehow managed to bypass Sonny’s security to plant it. We’re still not sure what his motivation would be, but collaborating with Sidwell would be lucrative for Jerry.

By that same token, he could also have teamed up with Valentin who wants to see Jack dead. Valentin had tried to strangle Jack a while ago and as a result, landed in the WSB’s black box -- kill on sight. Anna (Finola Hughes) and Jason (Steve Burton) managed to thwart the agents sent to kill Valentin in Buenos Aires, but he’s not out of the woods yet. And if Anna finds out he poisoned Carly with polonium, the days of her protecting him and giving him a heads-up are over.

Roche hasn’t ruled out returning to the show to bring Jerry back to Port Charles, so our fingers are crossed that we’ll get to see this dastardly villain unleash havoc once more.

You can watch new episodes of General Hospital on ABC and Hulu.
