Dagger Danger: Is General Hospital's Sidwell setting up Alexis?

The infamous dagger that Helena used to kill Alexis' mother is back on the General Hospital scene — and Alexis touched it.

In 2016, that dagger affected Alexis' life in a big way. Helena bequeathed the exquisite weapon to her stepdaughter in her will. Despite how horrified she was, Alexis took the dagger home but she never expected it would be used on her. However, her then-husband, Julian Jerome (William deVry), had that dagger at Alexis' neck by summer, thus ending their brief marriage.

Alexis eventually tossed the dagger in the harbor thinking that she would never see it again — until Jenz Sidwell presented it to her at Wyndemere last week. Alexis took one look at Sidwell's big surprise and nearly passed out. She managed to recover her senses but not completely, as evidenced by her next moves.

Alexis was clearly so shaken by the dagger she saw before her that she lost her head long enough to tell Sidwell all about Helena murdering her mother right in front of her. Of course, Sidwell likely already knew the story as he has some sort of connection to the Cassadine clan.

Later, Alexis picked the dagger up to examine it and feel its weight while the GH fandom cringed and wondered why she did such a thing without wearing gloves. After Alexis left Wyndemere, we learned we were right to worry.

As soon as he was alone, a giddy and smirking Sidwell picked up the dagger — using a cloth to make sure he didn't get his fingerprints all over it. After all, Alexis' prints were now on the weapon, which seemed to be just what Sidwell wanted.

Is Sidwell planning to kill someone with Helena's famous dagger in the hopes of pinning the murder on Alexis? The poor addled attorney was just in jail for allegedly killing Jagger Cates. Will she end up in an orange jumpsuit once again for another Pentonville stint?

Just who is Sidwell trying to kill and why is it so important to him to pin it on Alexis? Is it possible that Sidwell is somehow related to Helena's side of the family, which would mean he has an interest in Valentin too? Time will tell...
