Carly's new catch: How General Hospital fans really feel about 'Jackly'

It took long enough, but it looks like General Hospital's Carly Spencer officially has a new man.

Carly + Jack = 'Jackly'

Is it the first kiss or the proliferation of a "smush name" that creates a soap couple in the internet age? Either way, this week seems to be the week Carly (Laura Wright) has entered into a true new romance. 'Jackly' has fans on fire with excitement after Carly's German hotel adventure over the last few days.

Carly met Jack Brennan (Charles Mesure) more than a year ago, but she spent the better part of that year visiting him in Pentonville after he tried to take her hostage. Their friendship developed slowly as we all waited for it to turn into something more. Despite warnings from friends and family, Carly allowed it to become more this week. As she told Felicia (Kristina Wagner), she was "intrigued," and so were fans.

When Carly and Jack shared their first romantic kiss on Wednesday and an even more romantic kiss on Thursday, GH fans sent up cheers — even fans who didn't think they would like this pair.

General Hospital strikes gold

GH has spent a long time trying to find a new hit pairing for Carly, and it looks like it finally hit paydirt.

"I haven’t loved a Carly pairing this much since Carly/Todd," wrote X (formerly Twitter) user @SourceRyan. "Carly and Brennan give me such OG CarJax vibes with a dash of danger and it pleases me so much."

@GHFan10130 loves what Jack brings out in Carly, saying, "Jack Brennan makes Carly likable and brings out a side of her that’s fresh and not the Same stale Jason and Sonny nonsense."

"I haven’t been this into a Carly ship in years but I can’t deny the chemistry! Jack Brennan is HOT!!!," wrote @myeclipsedxsn, echoing the sentiment of many fans who are surprised by how refreshing 'Jackly' is.

Is it time for fan wars?

Some fans have been waiting for what seemed like forever for this ship to sail, and now that it has, they can't wait for the ride.

"Bout time Jack stopped playing and made a move on Carly," said @jon_ari_. "Jackly stans our ship finally left the dock."

'Jackly' even has some 'Jarly' fans torn. They still love the idea of Jason (Steve Burton) and Carly being more than friends, but Jack is giving Jason a run for his money.

"I desperately need a Jason/Carly/Jack triangle," tweeted @Jarly29214161. "I can’t remember the last time there was a triangle on soaps where I know I would be torn between both sides. Usually on a triangle, you always have one person you know is gonna win the girl."
