Somewhere in East Africa, Isaiah was escorted into a tent where Lucky rested on a cot. After the guard left, Lucky stood up. “Did it work?” he asked. Isaiah smiled. “We’re getting out of here today,” Isaiah said. According to Isaiah, “Sidwell” had been complaining of stomach pains, which Isaiah attributed to indigestion. However, Isaiah had convinced Sidwell that it required further testing, so Sidwell intended to send Isaiah to get the specialized medical equipment. Lucky was pleased because it would work to their advantage.
After Lucky retrieved his gun, he reminded Isaiah to wait for the signal. When the guard returned, Lucky started to follow the men out, but the guard stopped him. “Just the doctor. You’re staying,” the guard said. Isaiah insisted that Lucky was needed for protection. The guard was waylaid when his radio began to crackle. After the guard left to check things out, Isaiah looked at Lucky with alarm.
“What the hell are we going to do now?” Isaiah asked. Lucky handed Isaiah the gun and advised Isaiah to disarm the guard and make a break for the airfield, where Lucky’s contact would meet up with Isaiah. Isaiah refused to leave Lucky behind, but Lucky instructed Isaiah to fly to the United States and reach out to the WSB for help.
At the Collins apartment, Laura told Kevin that Nikolas had been crushed because he couldn’t help his sister. “So, that leaves Lucky. I have got to find him,” she said. Kevin knew it would be difficult because Lucky’s humanitarian work took him around the world, but Laura confessed that she had reached out to someone from an aid organization that Lucky had worked with in the past, as well as a few back channels.

Just then, Robert called Laura to filled her in on what he had uncovered from the WSB. Robert revealed that Lucky had been participating in humanitarian efforts and had saved several doctors and patients in areas under siege. “That’s my boy,” Laura said with pride. According to Robert, several months earlier, Lucky’s organization had relocated to a safer part of the world, and Lucky had been headed to a refugee camp in East Africa. Robert explained that it was difficult to monitor the camp because it was constantly in flux.
After the call, Laura decided it was time to call in a favor. She grabbed her purse and left.
At the hospital, Anna ran into Tracy. She grew concerned when she noticed that Tracy looked pale, so Anna offered to fetch a doctor. “It’s Lulu. She needs a miracle,” Tracy explained. Anna and Tracy sat down on a nearby bench to talk. Tracy told Anna about Lulu’s need for a transplant and the search for Lucky. Anna was curious if the donor had to have the same DNA as Lulu. Tracy shared that it wasn’t necessary, but time was of the essence.
A short time later, Anna knocked on Portia’s door and asked for information about Lulu’s case. Portia admitted that she couldn’t share Lulu’s medical records, but Anna explained that she wanted information about the requirements for a liver donor. Portia explained that the donor had to be in good physical and psychological health, understand the risks of the procedure, and have a compatible blood type. Portia shared that it was one of the reasons that they liked to choose a close relative.
Anna wondered if a minor could donate. Portia conceded that it was rare in cases like Lulu’s, but possible. Satisfied, Anna left.
At the WSB field station, Brennan sat behind his desk as he spoke on the phone. “I’ll take care of it,” he said. As he returned the receiver to its cradle, Laura knocked on the door. Brennan was surprised to see her. “I need your help,” she admitted. Laura told Brennan about Lulu’s need for a life-saving transplant. Laura explained that she needed information. “I’m here to ask you to help me find my son,” Laura said.
Laura filled Brennan in about Lucky’s work and her need to get in touch with him. “Clearly, you have more resources than I do,” Laura pointed out. Brennan was sympathetic, but he admitted that the WSB was not popular in that part of the world, so he would have to proceed with caution. Laura assured him that she wasn’t asking him to break any treaties. “I’m asking you to give my daughter a chance at life by finding my son,” Laura beseeched. “If it’s in my power to help, I will,” Brennan said.
Laura wasn’t satisfied. She reminded Brennan that her family had done more than their fair share to help the WSB, so it was time for the WSB to repay that favor. After Laura left, Brennan appeared thoughtful.
A short time later, Anna paid Brennan a visit and demanded that he stop playing games with her. “I need to know Valentin’s location,” Anna insisted. Brennan denied that the WSB had that information, but Anna didn’t believe him. She explained that she needed to find Charlotte. To her surprise, Brennan asked if it had to do with Lulu Spencer. Just then, Brennan’s phone rang. Anna warned him not to answer it, but he ignored her.
After a brief exchange, Brennan ended the call. Anna made another appeal to Brennan by reminding him that Charlotte might be able to save her dying mother. Brennan accused Anna of always thinking the worst of him. He revealed that the phone call had been about Lulu.
Meanwhile, Laura returned home. A few minutes later, Tracy stopped by to offer her resources to help find Lucky and bring him home. Laura was grateful and shared that she had spoken to Brennan. Laura was surprised when her phone rang and she saw it was the WSB agent. After Laura put Brennan on speakerphone, Brennan revealed that Lucky had been spotted a week earlier at a refugee camp near the border of Somalia and Ethiopia. However, the WSB hadn’t had an update since.
After the call, Tracy offered to get an extraction team together, but Laura rejected the idea because she didn’t want strangers to go after her son. Laura decided that she would do it herself, but Tracy argued that it was too dangerous. Tracy turned to Kevin for assistance, but he announced that he would accompany his wife. “I knew you’d say that,” Laura said with a smile. “Fabulous. The mayor and her psychiatrist husband. What could possibly go wrong?” Tracy asked in a sarcastic tone.
Laura assured Tracy that it would be okay, but she asked Tracy to watch Ace while they were gone. Tracy suggested Ace might prefer to be with Elizabeth and his cousins, but Laura thought it would be better for Ace at the Quartermaine mansion because Tracy had a nanny. “Two,” Tracy admitted. Tracy promised to take good care of Ace.
In Brennan’s office, Anna listened as Brennan talked to Laura. After the call, she warned Brennan that they couldn’t pin their hopes on Lucky when Charlotte was out there, too. Brennan denied knowing where Valentin and Charlotte were, but Anna grew angry. “You’re robbing Charlotte of the chance to save her own mother’s life,” Anna passionately argued. She accused Brennan of protecting the WSB rather than saving the life of an innocent woman. After Anna stormed out, Brennan appeared to consider what Anna had said.
At a secret location, Ava followed John through a hotel suite as he packed a bag. She wanted to know when he would be back, but he promised that he wouldn’t be gone for long. Ava admitted that she didn’t feel safe without John, but he assured her that Agent Boyle would be there to watch over her. As if on cue, Agent Boyle knocked on the door and entered the suite. Ava asked when John would bring Avery to her and put them in witness protection. “Is that what you want?” John asked.
John reminded Ava that she would have to change her name, and he painted a bleak picture of the life she would have. He explained that he had a plan, which would allow Ava to return to her life in Port Charles without having to fear Sonny. Ava asked if she could at least call Avery, but John discouraged her from talking to Avery because it would upset the child. John claimed that he had checked, and Avery had been having a wonderful time with her nanny.
Ava asked for her phone, but John told her it was too risky. Frustrated, Ava admitted that she felt cut off, but John reminded her that it was keeping her safe. He asked Ava to trust him. After John left, Ava struck up a conversation with Agent Boyle as the agent flipped through a magazine. Boyle said little until Ava noticed the agent’s Cartullo shoes. Boyle bragged that she’d bought the shoes at a sample sale, but Ava was familiar with the designer brand and knew they had still cost the agent a lot of money.
Boyle appeared uncomfortable, especially when Ava asked about the agent’s gun. Ava confessed that she was familiar with guns and knew it wasn’t a standard issue. Boyle claimed that female agents were given their choice of weapons. Restless, Ava decided to go to the lobby for a cup of coffee, but Boyle blocked her path and offered to fetch the coffee instead. After Boyle left, Ava ran over and picked up the agent’s bag. Ava grew alarmed when she found an expensive pair of sunglasses far above the pay grade of an FBI agent, a burner phone, and a bundle of cash. Ava quickly set the bag down and ran for the door. When Ava opened the door, Agent Boyle was standing in the hallway. “Going somewhere?” Boyle asked.
At Alexis’ house, Alexis told Sonny about the confrontation between Kristina and Molly at the baby’s grave. Stunned, Sonny asked what Molly had been thinking. “She knows that—what Kristina’s been through. She just got out of the hospital,” Sonny said. Moments later, Kristina entered the room.
After Sonny greeted his daughter, Kristina opened up about her regret over confronting Ava. Sonny told Kristina not to blame herself because Kristina had had no idea how Ava would react. “Not according to Molly,” Kristina said. Kristina revealed that Molly had accused her of choosing to protect Sonny over the baby. “That I didn’t put my baby first,” Kristina said.
Alexis explained that Molly had been lashing out because Molly was grieving, and Kristina had been the easiest person to blame. “Molly thinks that I was going to steal her baby, but she’s wrong because you can’t steal something that already belongs to you,” Kristina said. Kristina was certain that the baby had been hers because a piece of her had died when they had lowered the baby into the ground. Sonny and Alexis exchanged a worried look.
Kristina shared her heartache over losing her daughter and the dreams she had of “Adela.” “You named her after my mother?” Sonny asked. Kristina conceded that it wasn’t the name that Molly and T.J. had given the baby, but she would always be Adela to Kristina. “That’s beautiful. Thank you,” Sonny said with emotion.
Moments later, Alexis answered a knock at the door. John pushed past her as he announced that he was there to question Kristina. Alexis was livid and reminded him that he had to make an appointment. Kristina admitted that she had nothing to hide, but Alexis warned her daughter not to say a word. Sonny knew John was there to see him. “You want to talk to me? All you gotta do is ask,” Sonny said. Sonny suggested that John stop by his office the following morning, but John refused to let Sonny call the shots.
“Port Charles Grill. Twenty minutes,” John said. John warned Sonny not to be late, or Kristina would be arrested. After John left, Kristina urged Sonny not to go, but Sonny told Kristina not to worry. “I know how to handle Agent Cates,” Sonny said.
Shortly after Sonny left, Alexis announced that she had to go to the hospital to take care of an issue with Kristina’s insurance. After Alexis left, Kristina called Jason and asked for his help. When Jason arrived, Kristina told him about John’s latest visit. Kristina insisted that Ava had lied, but Jason advised Kristina not to play into John’s hands by giving him an excuse to file charges that would stick.
Kristina implored Jason to find a way to stop John and to make Ava pay for what Ava had done. Jason explained that it wasn’t Kristina’s fight; it was between Sonny and John. “This guy is obsessed with taking Sonny down,” Jason said. Jason revealed that it gave John tunnel vision and had made John susceptible to making a mistake. Jason was confident that Sonny would know when to make his move. “And Cates will never see it coming,” Jason assured Kristina.
Jason promised that something would be done about John. “I just can’t talk to you about it,” Jason said. Kristina smiled. “I knew you’d come through for me,” Kristina said.
In Portia’s office, Alexis thanked Portia for sending someone to help with Kristina’s paperwork. Portia asked how Kristina was doing, so Alexis acknowledged that her daughter had a long road ahead of her. Portia pointed out that Kristina had a lot of support to get her through it, prompting Alexis to broach the subject of Molly and T.J. and what had happened after the funeral. Portia admitted that she couldn’t imagine being in Alexis’ position of being caught between two daughters and having to choose a side.
At the Port Charles Grill, Sonny arrived for his meeting with John. He cut to the chase and asked what John wanted. John admitted that Kristina hadn’t looked well, and he reminded Sonny that Kristina faced a 20-year sentence. Sonny assured the agent that it wouldn’t get to that. John agreed. “Because you are going to make all of your daughter’s troubles go away,” John said with confidence.
Sonny asked how John expected him to do that. “You’re gonna confess,” John explained. John demanded that Sonny confess to every crime Sonny had ever committed, including grooming an underage girl and putting her to work as a stripper. “That’s a pretty big swing you’re taking at me. What if you miss?” Sonny asked. John promised that he wouldn’t miss because he had Sonny’s daughter “dead to rights.”
Sonny argued that any lawyer could poke holes in Ava’s story and that John’s case would fall apart if Ava recanted. John assured Sonny that Ava would not recant. “Because Ava will be in no position to recant. Ever,” John said.
