Genie Francis talks Laura's complicated sibling relationships on General Hospital

General Hospital's Genie Francis discusses Laura's return, the character's relationships with Martin (Michael E. Knight) and Cyrus (Jeff Kober), and which of her current co-stars reminds her of Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer)!

Emmy-winning actress Genie Francis took a break from General Hospital this summer, but she's finally back on the canvas as her longtime Port Charles alter ego, Laura Collins. Viewers have since learned that Laura has been in hiding with brother Martin (Michael E. Knight), and while there's no doubt going to be plenty of drama ahead, Francis admits that, just like fans, she doesn't know exactly what's coming down the pipeline.

"I don't know the full story of what's coming. They don't often tell us that -- they keep that very quiet," she reveals in a video interview with TV Insider. "In the social media days, it's very hard to keep our stories secret. Everything just seems to get out."

That being said, the actress does open up about Laura's complicated family situation of now having two brothers she didn't know she had -- one of whom is the evil Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), who Laura seems slightly less intimidated by than most everyone else in Port Charles.

"I think she's scared, but not as scared," the actress says of how Laura views Cyrus. "I think that even though he's done these horrific things, there's a part of her that loves him. I do. Because it's her brother and she can sort of see where he's gone wrong. So, it's a love/hate relationship. It's very interesting, and I just think Jeff is just a fun actor. He reminds me of Tony Geary [ex-Luke Spencer] in that you can't predict what he's going to do."

Francis also touches on Laura's relationship with Martin, with whom her alter ego has been in hiding these past months.

"They get to know each other, and they become real brother and sister, you know? Really close," she says. "And I adore Michael Knight. I feel so lucky that [the writers] gave me these two brothers. It's great. It's a wonderful surprise this deep into a character on a show, to finally have them go back and they pulled that out of my past, which is a great thing to do. I love what they did. It makes total sense."
