Maurice Benard, Tobias Truvillion featured in the dramatic trailer for Equal Standard

Don't miss the trailer for the gritty drama Equal Standard, featuring One Life to Live alum Tobias Truvillion (ex-Vincent Jones), General Hospital star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), and rapper Ice-T.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the dark drama Equal Standard since Soap Central first reported on the gritty film back in 2018, and the trailer for the gem starring One Life to Live alum Tobias Truvillion (ex-Vincent Jones), General Hospital star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), and legendary rap artist Ice-T is finally here.

Written by Taheim Bryan and directed by Brendan Kyle Cochrane, Equal Standard centers on the tragic circumstances that arise in New York City after an officer of the NYPD shoots an unarmed black man. The drama unfolds after officers accost a black, off-duty police officer they mistake for a thug (Truvillion), prompting him to shoot his gun in self-defense. Benard appears as Captain Chavat Isaak, who must deal with the chaotic aftermath of the tense situation.

As Soap Central previously reported, Benard shared several photos during the making of the powerful film and said he was grateful for the opportunity to take on a role outside of GH.

"Always great to play different characters," he wrote. "In New York playing a police captain. Very cool and interesting script." Benard also recently took to social media to express that the project is "a really important film."

Truvillion took to Instagram with news about the trailer for Equal Standard, writing, "EQUAL STANDARD. COMING SOON. Shoutout to @therealtaheim for bringing his vision to life. It takes a lot to make a film. Especially one with this kind of message. Salute my brotha."

Equal Standard is set for a 2020 debut. Check out the NSFW trailer for the powerful film below and let us know your thoughts in the Comments section at the end of the article.

Tobias Truvillion started his acting career appearing briefly in single episodes of the television series Playmakers, Third Watch, and Law & Order. He landed the role of Vincent Jones on One Life to Live in 2006, which earned him a nomination for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series.
