David Andrew MacDonald will return to Guiding Light in 2009. The actor's return is the latest in a series of high-profile role reprisals by big-name former GL stars. MacDonald last appeared in Springfield in 2007.

Another week, another big return for Guiding Light fans. Just as fans of the long-running CBS soap received word that Phillip Spaulding would be returning, comes word that David Andrew MacDonald (Edmund Winslow) is also slated for an early 2009 return.

This is not the first time that the actor has come back after being let go. MacDonald joined Guiding Light in July 1999, but was let go in 2005 due to budget concerns. The actor returned for a series of special appearances in January 2006 and later a short-term run in 2007.

MacDonald was last spotted in Springfield in December 2007, when Edmund had fallen into a coma after being pushed off a balcony by Cassie's son, Will.

Since exiting Guiding Light, MacDonald has focused his attention on the stage. He appeared as Oberon in Hartford Stage's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, as well as in Happy Now by the Yale Repertory Theatre.

MacDonald returns on January 23rd.
