Frank Grillo (ex-Hart Jessup, Guiding Light) has signed on to the upcoming action thriller Leo from Toledo, which also stars Mel Gibson.
Frank Grillo has come a long way since Springfield. The Guiding Light alum (ex-Hart Jessup) has been cast opposite Mel Gibson once again in the upcoming action thriller Leo from Toledo. The pair previously worked together on Boss Level, which has yet to hit theaters.
Directed by Joe Carnahan and based on an original script from Dan Casey, Leo from Toledo follows a former killer for the Kansas City mob (Gibson) who is now hiding in the Witness Protection Program and has trouble remembering everyday things. The stuff he does remember, he wants to forget -- but what he has forgotten has made him a hunted man with little time to save the only thing he has left: his estranged daughter and granddaughter.
"I've seldom had more fun than sitting in a writer's room with producer Lawrence Grey and writer-director Joe Carnahan, while we spitballed on this story. It's a tight, fast thriller, but its quirky observations had me in stitches," Gibson said via an official statement. "It's a real treat to be able to work with Joe and Frank Grillo again after the great experience I had with them on Boss Level last year."

Says Carnahan, "Leo is the kind of movie I love to make -- it's funny and heartfelt with a ton of great action. Being able to work with Mel and Frank again is a real gift. It rarely happens that you get to make films with the people you love and respect, so I consider myself blessed."
Grillo played GL's Hart from 1997 to 1999 before going on to TV series like Wasteland, Battery Park, For the People, The Shield, Prison Break, The Killing Point, The Gates, and Kingdom. Some of his film credits include The Grey, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: End Game, and the recent cop drama Black and Blue, which also stars One Life to Live alum Nafessa Williams (ex-Deanna Forbes).
Principal photography on Leo from Toledo is set to commence in the beginning of 2020.
