General Hospital is bringing Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine) back to Port Charles just in time for the holidays.
Christmas is coming early for General Hospital fans! The show has announced that Tracy Quartermaine is coming home to Port Charles this holiday season, with portrayer Jane Elliot stepping back into the beloved role this December.
Entertainment Weekly released a first-look photo of the actress' return to the ABC soap opera, teasing that Tracy is popping up for the holidays but -- in typical Quartermaine fashion -- will have her hands full with ELQ business as well as family.
Elliot originated the role of Tracy in 1978 and immediately won over fans as Edward and Lila Quartermaine's deliciously naughty daughter. The actress left GH in 1980 but won a Daytime Emmy for her work on the series in 1981 -- the same year she landed the recurring role of Judy Trent on Knots Landing. Elliot went on to play the role of Guiding Light's Carrie Todd -- a murderer suffering from a split personality disorder -- from 1981 to 1982 before landing roles as All My Children's Cynthia Preston and Days of our Lives' Anjelica Deveraux.

Elliot's last episode on GH aired May 4, 2017. As fans may recall, Tracy left Port Charles after telling her family she was ready to have her own life, away from the shadow of her father. A later episode revealed that Tracy had settled in Amsterdam.
GH hasn't revealed how long Elliot will be on the canvas, but as the actress retired from acting when she walked away from the ABC soap opera two years ago, it's likely going to be a short stint.
"I have logged enough man hours in front of the camera that I can actually retire with a pension from my union, something I am extremely proud of. But, as far as acting goes, I am full. I am satiated," the actress said in a 2016 interview with TV Insider. "There are people in that building who have been a part of my life for 38 years and I will miss them dearly [when I retired], but I want to keep growing, learning new things, living in new places, in order to expand my mind. Thank God for soap operas, I have raised two kids who are now grown and on their own. This has been the best job possible for any actor who is a mom... but I do look forward to the day when I can get on with my life. I am ready to hang up my panty hose!"
