Indie Short Fest gives top honors to GH, B&B star Ian Buchanan

The Indie Short Fest has given Ian Buchanan (ex-Duke Lavery, General Hospital; ex-James Warwick, The Bold and the Beautiful) and Billy Wirth top honors in its Best Acting Duo category for the pair's work in Shutter the Doors, an emotional short film written by Sheri Sussman.

Congratulations are in order for Ian Buchanan (ex-Duke Lavery, General Hospital; ex-James Warwick, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Ian McAllister, Days of our Lives; ex-Dr. Greg Madden, All My Children), who, together with actor Billy Wirth, won the Best Acting Duo trophy at the Indie Short Fest.

The pair was recognized for their outstanding work in the short film Shutter the Doors, which captures a moment in a man's life as he deals with an unimaginable loss. The film was written and directed by Sheri Sussman, and executive produced by Buchanan.

"I had the best, most fulfilling experience making this short film," enthuses Buchanan of his acting win. "Sheri and Billy were all I knew on this day. They lifted me up, I had their back. Magic was made!"

Ian Buchanan has a long history in daytime that began with the role of General Hospital's Duke Lavery in 1986. His subsequent soap roles included The Bold and the Beautiful's Dr. James Warwick, All My Children's Dr. Greg Madden, Days of our Lives' Ian McAllister, and Port Charles's Joshua Temple. Some of his other credits include Twin Peaks, It's Garry Shandling's Show, On the Air, Charmed, Old Dogs & New Tricks, and Justice League. He also narrated the recently released Dark Shadows documentary Dark Shadows and Beyond.

Buchanan's Indie Short Fest trophy will join the actor's Daytime Emmy trophy in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category, which he won in 1997 for his work as B&B's Dr. Warwick.

The Indie Short Fest (ISF-LA) is an LA-based international film competition with monthly live screenings at the Raleigh Studios in Hollywood and a major annual awards event at the same venue.
