General Hospital alum Elena Tovar (ex-Rosalie Martinez) has landed the recurring role of White House Director of Social Innovation on the Netflix continuation of Designated Survivor.
Congratulations are in order for General Hospital alum Elena Tovar (ex-Rosalie Martinez), who has landed an important role on Netflix's Designated Survivor.
Deadline reports the Mexican-American actress will be playing the "major recurring role" of Isabel, the White House Director of Social Innovation. She will be appearing in all ten episodes of the drama series' third season.
The outlet reports that season three will see President Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) facing a political reality... campaigning. What does it take to make a leader? What price will he be willing to pay? The season will delve deep into today's world of campaigning, smear tactics, debates, campaign finance, and "fake news." Democracy, as the nation knows it, will hang in the balance.

Anthony Edwards and Julie White have also joined season three, which is set for production later this year with an expected 2019 premiere.
Designated Survivor was originally an ABC series that was canceled after two seasons. Shortly after the shocking announcement, Netflix decided to revive the series and give it a third season.
"We are so excited that Designated Survivor is coming back for the third season, largely in-part because fans of the show really petitioned for its return," Sutherland tweeted after the news broke.
Added executive producer Mark Gordon via an official statement: "The continuation of the show via Netflix is a win-win for all involved. The story of President Kirkman and those around him has not been fully told and we look forward to working with our new partner in continuing the show for a global audience."
Tovar played the recurring GH role of Rosalie from 2014 to 2015, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Special Guest Performer in a Daytime Series category. Her other credits include Modern Family, Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, and the CW reboot of Dynasty.
