Glory days: Ellen Travolta returns to General

Ellen Travolta is set to reprise her role as Lois Cerullo's (Rena Sofer) flamboyant mother -- Gloria Cerullo -- just in time to pay her daughter a visit for Thanksgiving.

General Hospital viewers are about to get a holiday surprise when Ellen Travolta reprises her role as Lois Cerullo's (Rena Sofer) larger-than-life mother, Gloria Cerullo. Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Travolta will bring her character to Port Charles just in time for a Thanksgiving visit with her daughter Lois and granddaughter Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton).

Travolta appeared on GH off and on from 1994 until 1996, and the actress and Sofer have remained close ever since. If Travolta's name looks familiar, it's because she's the sister of award-winning Hollywood actor John Travolta. She has made cameos in a few of her brother's movies over the years, including the 1978 blockbuster Grease. Travolta also played Lillian, the mother of the title character of Charles in Charge and Chachi's aunt Louisa Arcola Delvecchio on Joanie Loves Chachi.

Travolta has another connection to GH. She was on several episodes of the sitcom Welcome Back Kotter, which co-starred her brother and Vernee Watson (Stella Henry).

Will the Quartermaines be hosting another Thanksgiving pizza dinner, or will the Bensonhurst ladies band together to get a turkey on the table?
