The Queen of England bestows GH star Emma Samms with special honor

General Hospital's Emma Samms (ex-Holly Sutton) met with The Queen of England this week to receive an award for her work with Starlight Children's Foundation.

Emma Samms is considered to be a bit like royalty to General Hospital fans, so it's perfect that Holly Sutton's former portrayer took a meeting with The Queen of England on October 25.

The very special Investiture event, which is when someone who has been awarded an honor receives their award in person from the Queen, put Samms in the spotlight for her work with Starlight Children's Foundation, an organization she helped cofound that provides hospital entertainment and grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children.

The Royal Family Twitter feed posted a photo of the pair's special meeting, which Samms retweeted.

The actress later followed up with a few words about the incredible moment.

"Obviously I was representing EVERYONE who's volunteered, worked & supported [Starlight Children's Foundation]," she wrote.

"And can I just stress how INCREDIBLE our Queen is? She stood for over an hour and gave every single one of us her focused attention."

Samms also posted a photo of herself with her children, Beatrice and Cameron, at the event, and later let fans know her fit-for-a-queen outfit consisted of a turquoise coat by Beatrice vonTresckow and a hat by Lisa von Hallwyl.

"Thank you SO much for your kind words," she enthused to her fans. "Enormously appreciated. I'm still over the moon about yesterday."
