General Hospital has cast war veteran Chris Van Etten to play the role of Amy Driscoll's brother Chet.
A new face is coming to General Hospital, and it wouldn't be surprising if viewers immediately fell in love. After all, Chris Van Etten is not just an actor, but he's also a model, a war veteran, and a motivational speaker.
Soap Opera Digest reports that Van Etten has joined the ABC soap opera in the role of Amy Driscoll's (Risa Dorken) brother Chet. But this actually isn't the first time he's had a connection to GH. Savvy fans might notice that he shares the same name as the soap's co-head writer, and when news broke that the writer Chris Van Etten had been promoted back in July, excited viewers were actually reaching out to the war veteran Chris Van Etten's social media accounts by accident.
The 25-year-old veteran was a great sport about it and posted his congratulations to the other Chris at the time.

As for how the funny mishap led to Van Etten being cast on GH, he says he couldn't be more thrilled. "This has been an awesome opportunity for me," he shares. "I feel really lucky to be a part of the show."
Dorken took to social media to share her enthusiasm about the casting choice. "You guys will love him as much as I do!" she wrote.
Van Etten lost both of his legs and one of his closest friends while serving in the Marines in Afghanistan. After he was medically discharged and received prosthetic legs, he focused on exercise and building up his physical strength. He has since gone on to become a successful fitness model for companies like Jockey underwear.
At this time, it's unclear when Van Etten will first air.
