GH hires new doc to take the place of Jon Lindstrom's Kevin

Hot on the heels of a much-praised appearance by Jon Lindstrom in the role of Dr. Kevin Collins comes word that General Hospital has hired a new doctor to replace the fictional psychiatrist.

Though fans seemed to love seeing General Hospital's Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) being counseled by Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) last week, the ABC soap is apparently transferring her case to a new doctor.

Soap Opera Digest reports that GH has cast Anthony Montgomery in the role of Dr. Andre Maddox, a psychiatrist who takes Anna's case from Kevin next month.

Lindstrom told fans last week that he and Hughes would share one more scene that he knew of ("I catch her at a moment when she can't help but go along with it. I believe that she's really too far gone to deal with this with a simple conversation," he teased) but that he wasn't sure where it would go from there.

At this time, it's still unclear if Montgomery's debut as Dr. Maddox means Lindstrom won't be returning to the canvas or if perhaps Kevin will be directed into a new storyline. And is this character the one previously rumored to be a hot new lover for a leading lady?

Watch for Montgomery, who previously appeared on the ABC soap as Maya's lover, Aaron, back in 2011, to appear on Friday, November 6.

What do you think about a new doctor stepping in to take Anna's case? Would you be sad if his debut means the end of Kevin's time in Port Charles?
