ABC has lured another well-known performer to the world of daytime. Golden Globe nom Daniel Benzali will play a patient at General Hospital later this year. The actor is known for primetime, movie, and stage roles.

Another established primetime star is headed to daytime. Actor Daniel Benzali, known for roles on L.A. Law, Murder One, and NYPD Blue, will join the General Hospital cast later this year as a patient at the title medical center.

Benzali will play Theo Hoffman, a patient who is admitted to General Hospital and develops a friendship with Robin Scorpio. In true Port Charles fashion, however, a spokesperson teases that "there's more to Theo than meets the eye."

Though this will mark Benzali's first daytime role, the actor brings with him a Golden Globe nomination for his work on Murder One, as well as an accomplished career in musical theater, both on Broadway and in London.

Benzali is the latest high-profile addition to the ABC soap. Maude alum Adrienne Barbeau (Suzanne Stanwyck) joined General Hospital back in August, and film vet Braw Rowe (Murphy Sinclair) recently wrapped up a short-term stint on the show. Of course, GH viewers also know that James Franco has made several appearances on the show over the past year.

Benzali makes his first appearance on December 6.
