General Hospital alum Jaime Ray Newman (ex-Kristina Cassadine) is celebrating the birth of her new daughter, whose journey into this world didn't come easily.
Congratulations are in order for former General Hospital star Jaime Ray Newman (ex-Kristina Cassadine). The actress and her husband Guy Nattiv have welcomed a baby girl into the world.
Newman took to social media to announce the exciting arrival of her baby, who was born via a surrogate after she experienced several unsuccessful pregnancies and a heartbreaking stillborn.
"In August of 2013, after 3 years in a long distance relationship with my love Guy, he finally moved from Israel to LA. I was nine months pregnant and within a few days, the contractions came. We arrived beyond excited to the maternity ward at Cedars Sinai -- where the worst happened to us," she explains on Instagram. "There was no heartbeat, and we lost our baby girl in a stillbirth. After a year of shock, subsequent years of IVF treatments, and four more miscarriages, we lost hope."

Fortunately for the couple, their string of severely bad luck came to an end earlier this month when little Alma Ness Newman Nattiv came into the world.
"In life there are also gifts that come to show you the concept of ups and downs... This Tuesday, September 18, 2018, Alma Ness Newman Nattiv arrived (with the help of our extraordinary surrogate who has now become family), as the Kol Nidrei prayer was heard in synagogues around the world," Newman writes. "An inexplicable happiness overwhelms us, so we have decided to share our incredible miracle that could have only happened through science and love. Shana Tovah, have a beautiful year, and never lose hope. P.S. Ness = "Miracle" in Hebrew."
Newman debuted in the role of GH's Kristina in 2001 and played the role until 2003, when the character was killed off in an explosion. Fun fact: Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) named her daughter Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) in memory of the Cassadine princess.
After departing the ABC soap opera, Newman went on to have quite a successful career in primetime with roles in series like Veronica Mars, Lincoln Heights, Eastwick, Drop Dead Diva, Bates Motel, and The Punisher.
