The primetime soap opera Grand Hotel has been canceled after just one season, which leaves Bryan Craig (ex-Morgan Corinthos) open for a return to General Hospital.
It's a sad day for soap fans who were loving the ABC primetime telenovela Grand Hotel. Variety reports that the network has decided to pull the plug on the series after just one season. While the news is unfortunate for the show's cast and crew, there is a silver lining: it could mean that Bryan Craig is free to return to General Hospital.
As fans know, Craig walked away from GH in 2016 to pursue other projects, and his Port Charles character was killed in a car bombing to allow for his exit from the show. There's no indication that Craig will return to the daytime series, but fans are hoping that the show's powers that be will find a way to bring the beloved character back.

Interestingly enough, Craig's recent career journey somewhat mirrors that of recent GH departee Hayley Erin (ex-Kiki Jerome). She left GH to star in the Pretty Little Liars spinoff The Perfectionists, which was also just canceled after one season. Plus, both Erin and Craig made brief returns to GH after exiting, and their returns both involved Ava (Maura West) -- Craig appeared in one of Ava's dreams, while Erin returned in ghost form to visit her grieving mother. Eerie, don't you think?
Since news of Grand Hotel's unfortunate cancellation is fresh, there's no telling what Craig's career will look like in the future. However, the talented actor will no doubt land on his feet. As Soap Central previously reported, he will be starring in the upcoming film Women Is Losers, and he recently joined the series Revenge Wars.
UPDATE (October 4, 2019): Maybe Grand Hotel isn't quite as dead as it -- and Santiago -- seems. Executive producer Brian Tanen recently told TV Insider that a second season still could happen.
"I'm being a little bit coy about answers for a potential Season 2 because, somewhere deep in my heart, I'm hopeful that there's life for the show if not on ABC then possibly on another platform. We've had meetings, and if anyone is out there reading this and wants a fun, soapy gem, I think everyone would like to come back and make another season of the show."
