It's an annual rite of General Hospital passage: Tony Geary's summer vacation and fall return. This year, though, fans will have to wait just a bit longer for Luke to return to Port Charles. Geary, who has won a stunning six Daytime Emmy nominations for his work as the iconic Luke Spencer, originally joined the GH cast in 1978.
Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) is back at work on General Hospital following his yearly summer vacation, but fans will have to wait a little while longer for the actor to appear on-screen.
It's been a whopping three months since Luke was last seen on June 30, preparing to head out of town on a mission that the character claimed would "give Tracy a chance to miss" him. Though fans have gotten accustomed to Geary's annual breaks from the show, that hasn't necessarily meant that fans have missed the actor and his alter ego any less.
Geary was originally slated to be back on viewers' television screens by the end of September. However, due to some last minute changes, Geary will now appear during the first full week of October.
Geary made his General Hospital debut in 1978. He exited the show in 1983, and later returned on a full-time basis in October 1993. In February 2009, Geary signed a new contract with the ABC soap. The terms were not made available, but a show spokesperson indicated that Geary would "be around for a while."
The actor makes his on-screen return from vacation on October 7.
