GL alum Murray Bartlett joins Nashville

Nashville has added former Guiding Light star Murray Bartlett (ex-Cyrus Foley) as a recurring character to season five.

CMT's Nashville has one more connection to the daytime world with its latest addition: Guiding Light alum Murray Bartlett (ex-Cyrus Foley) has joined the primetime series in a recurring capacity.

Deadline reports that the Australia native has signed on as Jakob Fine, "a very handsome, charismatic and successful men's fashion designer."

Bartlett's casting comes hot on the heels of the news that series star Connie Britton has chosen to vacate her role, as well as the show's recent move from ABC (which cancelled the series) to CMT.

As longtime fans of the show know, Bartlett -- whose GL character both terrorized and charmed Springfield residents from 2007-2009 -- will be in good company on the country music drama: Nashville's other soap connections include series stars Hayden Panettiere (ex-Lizzie Spaulding, GL) and Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky Spencer, GH).
